  7. Hi Janet You need to specify two of your races as best bets - they count for double points. tony

  9. Hasn’t this crap gone overboard. The track has been raced on for many many years and now they come up with this? Where will it all end, one hates to think!

  10. Here are the rules for newbies and those who want to check: THE RULES 1. Players. Each team will consist of 5 players. If you can't play on a given day you may nominate a sub from outside the comp or have a team mate post for you although in the latter instance their selections on behalf of the missing player must vary from their own to some degree. 2. Draw. The draw will match each team against another team every day until all teams have played each other by the conclusion of Round 7. 3. Selections. Competitors are required to select two runners per race. No subs are to be posted. All selections should be posted at the same time although I may make allowances if this is not possible due to late arrival for posting. Posting the same numbers for each race is not permitted. I don't think your team mates would want you to do that anyway. You must post at least 6 different (initial) selections to your opponent if you post after them. 4. Scratching Rule. You may post replacements for any scratching by editing your original post up until 11.00am on raceday. After that time any selection which is scratched will be replaced by the TAB sub followed by the 2nd favourite by TAB win odds in that order. If more than one horse meets the latter criteria then the replacement will be the horse with the higher number. 5. Investments. Each selection will be regarded as an imaginary $10 win bet while if both selections start, a $2 quinella combining the two selections will also be credited to the competitor. So that's a $22 investment per race per competitor if two tips are submitted. 6. Best Bet. Each selector may choose two races each day as a "best bet" selection. All $$$ earned from these races will be doubled. In the event of scratchings the same best bet (BB) will apply. There will be no transference to a subsequent race. If your best bet race is abandoned - bad luck !@ 7. H-T-H. The draw will pit individual players from the two teams drawn to play each other, against each other in head-to-head competition. The player with the most $$$ at the conclusion of the round is the winner for his team. The team with 3 or more winners wins the match. 8. Countback. If a head-to-head contest is a tie on $$$ earned then a countback will determine the winner by award victory to the player who uniquely selected the highest placed horse in the final event. In other words if you both selected the same horse that cancels itself out. It would be the two selections which are different which will determine the tie-breaker. If the selections are the same for the final event then the same parameter will apply to the penultimate race and so on. 9. Points. Teams will be awarded points as follows: 3-2 win - 2 points 4-1 win - 3 points 5-0 win - 4 points Bonus points Team profit bonus - 1 point Losing team with higher aggregate than their conquerors - 1 point So a well performed side which still loses may earn as many points (2) as a side which wins narrowly . 10. Joker. No Joker will operate in this comp. 11. Posting. Please post your selections by number (names are optional and unnecessary). If you post replacements for scratched horses then do so in anew post rather than edit your original. 13. Closing Time. There is no closing time but selections are only valid if posted at least one minute before the starting time of the first or any race. My decision is final in this and all other matters. 14. Winner. The winning team shall be the one who accumulates the most points over the 7 days. If teams are tied on points a countback on total $$ earned over the 7 days will apply as a tiebreaker. Round 1 - Dec 26 - Ellerslie 10 races starting at 12.43pm Forum Equo vs We 5 Kings Steve v Hesi Jill v Tom The Crucible v Brian Geoff v Punter Pete Steve P v Ray The Rubiks vs Vidi Vici Cubes v Howie (Shield challenge) Sir Gallivant v Casper Rob v John Gordy v Mr Gee Kloppite v Maureen Sleighed'em vs The Demented Elves Maria v Graeme Jen v Roland Hall v Sarah Wrinkles v Korio PJ v Robert The Famous Five vs The Numero Unos Betty v Jack Ian v Catalano Heather v Tony Rosina v Pete Dave v Rees

  17. If punter A makes a mug bet and the TAB accepts it, how does it follow that the TAB is acting unfairly in refusing to accept a more informed bet from punter B? Unless, of course, B is also a mug...

  18. At least Aussie actually punish those responsible. In nz, we are weak, which is why so many stables keep pushing the limits, its worth it. Get caught, transfer horses to a family member for a few weeks, then your back into it.

    GULP !!

Mate of mine in Seedknee called to wish me and the better half a Merry Xmas and ........ O'h I have a winner for you ( always welcome news eh !! ). Yeah mate give it a whack............. so got on the old computer and $1000 win thanks FFW $1.30 O'h well small fish are sweet they say. Had a couple of friends over and to be honest we had been knocking it back quite well so they joined in and had a few more Hundie on . ell it just pisses in easing up to 4 mtrs across the line............... just then Mrs Bosson on Trackside states o'h well favorites got rolled again or words to that effect and we all erupt !! WTF We had just seen it win according to the commentator and Trackside cross to the Bongawalla dogs. We had to wait until the TAB resulted it in my account as it came through before the confirmation. Fortunately we had seen it win but not before sobering up bigtime.

  21. Tim Williams gets a lot of flax over his drives from time to time. I have been critical of some of his drives. But last night at Cambridge he won both feature races with superb drives. His drive on Kyvalley Blur was outstanding and while Vincent is a class above most horses in NZ Williams' showed great tactical nous to win Futurity Stakes with the horse. Well done Tim Williams.

  25. I wonder if that same punter actually reads some of the opinions on here. Probably not, and I am sure he hasn't asked your advise Brods on wise investment. Without actually knowing who it was it is complete conjecture on your part to second guess his/ her motive. This isn't to say you dont have some expertise in this realm but each to his own.

  26. I'M calling total BS there. No one can win every month over a 3 year period. Did you find a sports almanac in your time machine Marty Mcfly ?

  28. Brodie, this punter isnt stupid. With that sort of coin he is obviously using small gains on a probable outcome to build a monetary income. To make decent money as you put it would have him investing on much riskier odds and the bigger potential for loss. He may well lose his 40 grand but the odds are worth taking , when all the permutations are factored in. There is value there as long as you have the coin to capitalise on it.
