It's a ballroom....John is living in the past..something that happens to older people who need a pat on the back....his last trip to auckland we didn't even have a motorway...he has bred sprinters trying to breed stayers and is now angry at everyone......he even has trouble peeing..lol

  4. A bit hefty Fiery. Usually when a jockey's unwell he's stood down for the day. Two months is a heap of time and especially for someone like OP. I'm aware his income is many times that of mine when he's riding winners but when he's not riding at all he's earning zip. That wasn't my query anyway. I simply wondered.

What a stupid comment as the only trainers I could think of north of the Bombay's are craiks, mullane and Smiths. Maybe Phil Green? And they all have travelled alot. Also last time I checked, Tirau wasn't pass the Bombay's

John Goode i agree with re racing at auckland very boring 318m races race after race no disagreement but you seem to have a thing about aucklanders not travelling please name the trainers. the only trainers i know of in the auckland area are trainers with only 2/3 race dogs such as the cleaver boys.Halley mullane is in the Auckland area and is down at wanganui racing today and travels to Palmy.there is no one else to my limited knowledge who trains in the auckland area certainly no big trainers maybe craik not sure if he lives waikato or auckland but saying that ben has done thousands of ks or miles over the last 30 years.sp please name the lazy trainers who will not travel that reside in the Auckland area ???

  10. Jeez Fiery, you're on fire Son ! Perhaps Blue is not aware of why OP is not riding for reasons other than his well published battle to keep his weight down? Instead of going off, why not enlighten Blue as to the real reason OP has been off the scene since standing down in Brisbane about 6-8 weeks ago.

  11. Right you Harness nuts, here's the deal. In PJ,s Spring comp ,as a point of difference I am going to put together (or try) a Team of pure Harness followers to pit their Tipping skills against the rest and try to beat them at their own game. Might add some fun and interest and surely some banter(Sledging) Obviously I will be in the team, but not necessarily Captain .and don't be put off by my poor showing this season. The trotting season was in full swing. I will need 4 more players so don't be shy ,I wont bite. Teams name will be The Flying Sulkys . I will wait till PJ posts his Spring Comp times and then put up a post. First in best dressed. Regards Globe. ( PJ will have to ratify this of course)

  12. See other thread for details. Regulars in Peter's comps will know the drill. Pretty simple - pick two runners in each of the 10 races below. Nominate one NZ race (1-5) and one Oz race (6-10) as your Best Bet races. Don't post subs but feel free to replace scratchings up to the scheduled start time of Race 1. Entries close at that time - 1.25pm on Saturday. Race 1 - New Plymouth Race 3 - 1.25pm Race 2 - Ruakaka Race 3 - 1.46pm Race 3 - New Plymouth Race 5 - 2.36pm Race 4 - Ruakaka Race 5 - 2.54pm Race 5 - New Plymouth Race 6 - 3.11pm Race 6 - Flemington Race 5 - 4.15pm Race 7 - Flemington Race 7 - 5.35pm Race 8 - Flemington Race 8 - 6.15pm Race 9 - Randwick Race 9 - 6.35pm Race 10 - Flemington Race 9 - 6.50pm

The sport does not appeal to the young ones unfortunately. Especially when you look at young trainers like James black and Alisha Steele and matt roberts who have had a lot of success and still struggled to pay the bills. Even the like of callum weir have had to work still and he has had some of the best dogs in the last two or three seasons in NZ

Chevy, you obviously haven't followed his earlier posts. It is CT who is always the first to get nasty and turn things personal. I wasn't meaning it in any nasty sense when I suggested earlier that he is pyschotic, he really is troubled. If you care to go back and look at all of my posts on here over the last year or so you will see I have never been critical of anyone, but CT really is a troubled and nasty piece of work. Social media of all types gives people who wouldn't normally be listened to a chance to be heard, and surprisingly they sometimes develop a following. Sadly it is the age we live in.

  17. A quick comp to fill the time and keep your hand in during the hiatus between Peter's Winter and Spring comps. Individual knockout comp rather than a team comp. Same scoring as Peter's comps - 10 races (5 NZ, 5 Oz), 2 picks in each race, 1 BB in NZ and 1 BB in Oz, $10 win, $2 quinella. All scratchings on TAB sub(s), ties split in the same way, ...... This coming Saturday will be a seeding round and then there will be a series of knockout rounds - will depend on number of entries but maximum will be five rounds (32 entrants) as the comp will finish before Peter's Spring comp kicks off in early September. If we have more than 32 enter the seeding round, the top 32 seeds will progress to the first round. Less than 32 and the top seeds will get a bye in the round of 32. 16 or less and it will only run for four rounds, ........ No need to express interest - just post your picks on the entry thread that will appear a bit later tonight. Winner of the knock-out comp will join the Houston Astros fan club (along with Brian) by winning a $20 bet on Astros to win the AL.

Not sure I labeled you, or anyone, I certainly never intended to wrap you into this. As for CT, he's had a free rein/reign here for years and repeats absolute lies and drivel about me relentlessly. The truth is that he's toxic and whenever he gets involved in/on this site it always ends up the same way. That said it's not my site and clearly the owners think he generates traffic, otherwise they'd have lowered the boom on him a long time ago. Personally I'd just drown the bastard, maybe beat him first, and make the world a better place doing it.

Had a reply for you Gary, but ended up losing it. But yes to your question, with the exception of Karen, who is not afraid to travel. For trainers Nth of the Bombay's, Waikato is a huge trip, thats why they struggle to fill fields. Trainers Sth of Cook St regularly do round trips of over 1000 kms in the same day. Trainers in the south Gary are a much tougher breed.

  32. I have never uttered a single word in support of CT--I merely asked a simple question about why he attracts so much opprobrium from a few posters. It seems it goes beyond jesting and banter so there must be some underlying hatred as a result of some previous experiences.

  41. This "North Shore" you speak of. Is that in Auckland? The place with useless Rugby League, Rugby Union teams, severe road congestion and $1 million average house prices. Us living in New Zealand (south of the Bombay Hills Demilitarised Zone) couldn't really care much about that.

  44. The Daily Telegraph reports that police constable Jonathan Adams had taken sick leave to see the horse he part owns win the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. The horse was Quiet Reflection. Adams said that attendance at the races was genuinely therapeutic. Adams' employers were surprised to see the supposed invalid on BBC4 celebrating the win in a jubilant manner,

Clearly aquaman doesnt realise its about an hours drive from akl to cambridge... Is that a serious statement or just sarcasm? Try racing dogs in the South Island, if you told trainers down here it was only an hr to get to the races they would be jumping for joy! Try 5 hours to Dunedin and 9 hours to Invercargill in the middle of winter and then you would have something valid to complain about. There are ample opportunities for North Island trainers if they are prepared to travel, races unfortunately don't always drop on your lap right in front of you and sometimes you have to make a real effort.

    greyhound auction

In regards to the training reference you make, its surely no secret that its actually not difficult at all to TRAIN a greyhound as you have pointed out...however it is very difficult for a novice to prepare a greyhound and present that dog to the races 100% SOUND and INJURY/NIGGLE free in order for that dog to run its best possible race for you...this "mastercraft" takes years and years of practice to perfect and some are leagues above others at carrying this out....in my opinion the countries leading/top trainers are the best because they have mastered the art (through years of practice) of checking over dogs properly, its not easy to detect some injuries and being able to do this effectively gives you a huge advantage, you can not only start treating the injury at an early stage but your knowledge has given you the ability to detect it before it potentially "ruins" the dog.
