  1. Well done Reds. You've been the best team all season and deserve to advance. Well played Dons. In the last couple of weeks we've taken the top two teams right to the finish line. To come up $1.20 short, well that's about as close as you can get in this comp. Thanks for turning up every week guys. And thank you P.J for all your hard work. This is the Don, over and out... cheers R

I think you have a slightly blurred view on what my job is.i am employed to call races. From time to time im asked to go the extra mile and provide quaddie and pick 6 selections. Unpaid i might add. My instructions last thursday were to select a winning pick 6.the way i thought was best which was spending that much as a 10% bet. Knowing full well that there was possibillities of upsets i had no problems suggesting that sort of spend, athough as it turned id have got the lot with a smaller spend and a 100% ticket if i had stuck to my top 2 or 3 selections in all the legs. Thats the way tipping and punting goes. I was happy to have turned a $600 spend into $2800,have had many days where ive soent $600 and walked away with zero. Not everyone likes my style but i like to win..by any means necessary and in this world you got to spend money to make it. Bigger problems in this game then me only making you a $2200 profit.

Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick but I think everyone is approaching this incorrectly. We have a crap stayers program so instead of saying that funds should be applied to a specific rating race, shouldn't we be saying that we need to develop and promote a championship structure from the bottom up, for a specific horse type, and fund that correctly? As you will all know, I am an advocate of getting staying back on the menu. The only reason I keep saying this is that we get to know the horses better, there's more money in staying races in Australia (our export sales market - although I really want to keep them in NZ), viewer data goes up and betting goes up. Rating 75 racing doesn't do any of that. So if we were to get very specific with funds, creating a championship structure, which is for stayers, gets us back into the game. The way we are currently doing it wont work. And then I want to talk about jumping races. It is proven off shore that its now as popular as flat galloping in terms of attendance, viewership and betting (in fact more popular in betting in the UK). Why do we actually want to display a shitty flat galloping product during winter when we could market a spectacle called jumping. To tell you the truth, if I held the reigns, I'd stop conventional flat racing in the winter months (there is room for an all weather in this initiative) and replace it with an unbelievable jumping program which starts at 3 years old. I know how to do this. As for funds being applied to the Karaka Millions...that's crap...in fact whoever promoted that needs to leave the industry governance structure. Those sales races are restricted races. So if you breed a very nice horse but choose NOT to put it through the sales, then you can't run...that's what I call restrictive. So you promote corruption by putting them through the sales and buying them back. Talk about a conflict of process. None of this is rocket science. The problem is that we have non horse people running racing. Think of yachting to understand the relevance of this.

  17. Yes congrats Armadillos - and thank you to all teams and PJ for another enjoyable comp. As they say - 'may the best team win'! and as for the rugby - I got put in my place big time .... I said something early on about that big Welsh lock Alun Wyn Jones being an antagonistic annoying bstd. Well Mrs. vS looked at me with a wry smile and said " typical bloody forwards - you were just like that 35 years ago" finally condolences to Sir G and family from your friends here at cafe

I like your style Jason. You are prepared to say what you feel at the time both with punting and commentating and as comments and tipping man. as you have continued experience in your role but also as an owner and trainer you are worth listening to. getting some punters a good % It is only a theoretical guide anyway !! Keep up the good work.

me quoting scripture, is my perogative.... it shouldnt offend you? I made a valid statement making the connection between not spreading lies and throwing Dirt, and accepting bribes and the low IQ albeit understanding being subverted. Me using the scripture is simply me ramming home the Truth as i perceive it. Dont let it bother you...

That's a fair point uneasy. But I don't see where or how the Act allows the NZRB to put any contingencies on distributions to codes, and I don't actually understand how it allows them to make distributions in excess of the surpluses referred to in s16 in the first place.

Globe, you must stay off the booze, its clouding your judgement. When you sober up, you will see that Trumpie is a real President, making real changes. The border wall is starting soon, and may even have solar panels attached producing clean green energy, wow what a great idea. Its all go now in the States, the rebuild has begun.

  31. I would like to take this opportunity to clarify a couple of those issues raised about Wrote as best I can. Coolmore trade a large number of horses particularly if the money is good enough. The horse that beat him in Dubai, Daddy Long Legs (Scat Daddy) was sold to HK after winning the Dubai Derby and he was also a 2yo that beat Wrote at Royal Ascot in a G2. Sweet Orange, a horse we stood was another sold by Coolmore to HK as a stakes winning 2yo. I know he was an expensive purchase amongst a package of horses sold to the current owner(s) as a racehorse, rather than a stallion but he had clearly trained off. hardly shipped on. You can watch his run in the Dubai Derby where Helmet led them up for a fair way and it was a pretty solid effort. He sat 3 wide facing the breeze and wasn't beaten much by the winner and nothing in it for second. I know I wouldn't have been happy with the ride. I do agree he trained off or decided he would rather be a stallion and there is nothing new in that. In summary we think he is a great prospect at a very modest fee. Time will tell but the response to him has been very encouraging. Cheers
