Different senario - swap TT and CM positions around and would Smith have driven the same - not in your life. Pathetic drive (deserving to be sacked), unrehearsed but team driving all the same. How the stipes did nothing is beyond belief.3 points

TAB Slow Again
Ashoka and 2 others reacted to Peter Jenkins for a topic
This is similar to their performance over scratchings at Aussie meetings on a Saturday. They are usually late, up to 1-2 hours in posting scratchings for the major meeting in Oz even though these are published on the net at 7.30 (EST) or 9.30 NZ Time. No commitment, no pride and probably no interest in their jobs it would seem and just not good enough. You might say - oh it's just one little thing - but across the board it becomes a hundred little things that retard the industry and those professionals within it.3 points -
Well none really, not even thanks for emailing us and we will get back to you shortly or anything..... Might give them a call in the morning and just enquire where we are up to, or on who's desk it has been placed. Depending on the answer .....l do have to go into town tomorrow so might just pop a copy into the local MPs office. I did meet Winston earlier in the year when he was campaigning. It was on the street mind you , however we did chat about the decline in NZ racing. Hope he remembers me.2 points

Firstly: the said man also was not responsible for altering the scratching date of Gibbonator, it was entirely the fault of the secretary, remember? What roles are the said man & that secretary in now? Secondly: Class 2-4 means nothing other than a title (name). The race is listed as "Invitation Stakes" as noted in the class column "INV". https://www.thedogs.co.nz/catch-the-action/11882/97426/field-detail.aspx As a "Invitation" race the club has the right to "invite" any dogs they choose to. It's questionable, as per GRNZ rules, if a "C2-C4" invitational race can even be carded as the rules state invitational races are for dogs graded C1+, but that's a whole other issue to the one I've highlighted. Regardless, the club obviously made their invitations (for c2-C4 dogs) and the 10 drawn to the field were those that accepted their invitation. Once they have 10 dogs confirmed, which were invited, then their selection criteria states that as an invitational race, it will have the highest graded Greyhounds entered first. (as noted in my original post) Both the #9 & #10 have a higher grade than the #1 & the #7 dogs (neither have downgraded since noms closed either). So why is it ok to have a C2 & a C3 in the field with two C4's on the bench? It seems to clearly breach their very own selection criteria.2 points
-
Does anyone know why it would be permissible for the PNGRC to ignore their own selection criteria in composing the Race #9 invitational field on Friday night? Clearly 2 dogs of lesser grade have been accepted to the field while 2 dogs of superior grade are on the ballot. PNGRC Selection Criteria clearly states: 4. Entry into Restricted Age, Invitational, and other restricted races will have the highest graded Greyhounds entered first. This points system is then applied to determine the order of entry for the remaining available place in the field. It would not be wise, to push ones luck, with criteria so clearly defined within the clubs own rule book. It's been well documented previously where "luck pushing" in the industry can lead someone.1 point

So are you saying that if Tiger Tara was in same position as Brilliant Strike,he would still have driven Serena the same.I would say probably not, therefore my belief is it was team driving1 point

You have done what we asked you to do. Name and shame, or tell us who "did it". Unsportsmanlike in my opinion is the "owners call" in my opinion. She actually spent this prep at Tony Pike's and because the middle day of HB was canned, the owner(s) made the decision to send her straight to Sydney! Personally, I poor decision whatever way you look at it, is my gut feeling.1 point

Omg - 4 things 1. Regardless of the personalities - this is what harness passion is all about so we should let it roll, stopping short of 'litigational' (sic) slander. 2. Loved the light and sound reference - now that was cheating at its best! 3. Exclude A Butt from being immune to suicidal speed duels - I can think of a many a night when he spat the dummy.(both he and john hay got hauled in one night after surging a mile in front - Hay was on Going Royce and Anthony on Rare Touch.... Worst speed duel I've ever seen). 4. Fair point with the bru czar but don't worry about Franco Ice - Purdon team driving suited Neil (and mango) down to the ground, Neil just didn't realize that your last quarter doesn't need to be your slowest to win big races. Now master musician in chokens 4.05 cup win is another story. All the bullies were there - christoper Vance, sogo, insutcha, two under- all looking right! Robert Dunn rightfully got hung out to dry for the drive in bbc's cup....but man he was up against some nasty sliver (with blue spot walls) in those days. Footnote one: Incidentally, anyone like to take a guess what colours master musician wore in his 4 year old cup and why (quite topical):) Footnote two: Frank Shirives I believe recently passed away - quite liked him as a trainer. Main claim to fame? Kaou King finished 4th in an interdom at addington. Not quite - should have been third and one of my most hated harness horses should have been awarded the title. Why? Golden reign should have been dq'd on the day for checking the mighty bloss and master musician out of the race. Victor supreme 2nd - positive swab, young mister Charles 3rd - positive swab.... Chokin 4th. One of the best interdoms ( for viewing) ruined by one cheating driver (Alford) and 2 crooked trainers. Only solice is that fraud chokin didn't get another golden handshake:) I love harness racing! By the way I think there's some juice around at the moment - I've seen a few results at low key meetings that don't add up - watch this space.1 point

your made your point well jimmy ,best however just to keep playing the ball and not the man. Your topic prompted a response from alittlebitofknowledge who gave us the answer some were wondering. I.E. it was not a team drive but just a poor drive from a driver who everybody agrees is in top form. Lets hope aliittlebitofknowledge continues to contribute to this site if anything takes his fancy. Hopefully he has picked up just to respond to the topic and not bother with the personalities as jimmy is a hard man to keep quiet. I guess a lot of us will be watching venus serena at methven to see what she does there.1 point -
Steve you are a hard marker! Bloke Michael has had numerous bouts of illness throughout his career. Otherwise he would have easily got to 1000 winners by now.1 point

Dear dear Jim - 1791 words to try an validate a theory that was wrong from the very start. You're nothing if not predictable! I recall someone else on here a while back employing the same "sheer volume of drivel" tactics to try and wear down those that actually knew what they were talking about, and he whimpered off into the distance with his tail between his legs, protesting everyone elses ignorance, and swearing to never return. A close relative maybe? The angrier he got, the longer his posts posts become too. Different name, same DNA!1 point

He has been riding for many years so 900 winners whilst good hardly entitles for him to be called "The King" Surely he is embarrassed by such a title.1 point

Gust Of Wind comes off a somewhat unlucky run in the Turnbull where she ran out of room in the straight at about the 200-metre mark. Jockey Craig Williams was very happy with the run in view of a 2400-metre run next start, and she had a far worse lead-up run coming into the Oaks this year when she finished five lengths off the pace against her own sex over 2000 metres. She went into the Oaks having had three runs that preparation and that is the case for the Caulfield Cup. Gust Of Wind scored a resounding win in the 2400-metre Randwick classic and had none other than Winx left 2.5 lengths in her wake. That mare has taken Australian racing by storm since, unbeaten in four runs and considered a major hope of being crowned our new weight—for-age champion in next week’s Cox Plate. What most people wouldn’t realise is that the time run by Gust Of Wind in the Oaks was actually over four seconds superior to Mongolian Khan, who won the Australian Derby at the same track and distance one week earlier. I’ll admit it is difficult to compare times on different days, but having looked at all other races on those two days it is very hard to distinguish any discernible difference in the track surface, and both were officially rated a Slow 7. Gust Of Wind actually recorded a faster last 600 metres than the males did in the Derby. Given the first three-quarters of the Oaks was run at a significantly faster tempo than the Derby, that is more than a little surprising. This mare is yet to start again at 2400 metres but she should relish the task, and any rainfall could be a significant bonus. She has two wins on dry tracks though, including an incredible Maiden performance where she was nearly 25 lengths off the leader mid race. So she can handle all conditions. Don’t be put off by her recent three-length trackwork defeat behind Volkstok’n’barrell. Her blinkers were taken off, but will be reapplied come race time on Saturday. Barrier 13 could be a concern, but I’d rather see her with some galloping room rather than locked up on the rail as was the case in the Turnbull. How she is $19 and Mongolian Khan $4.60 is beyond my understanding. http://www.theroar.com.au/2015/10/15/2015-caulfield-cup-oaks-winners-looking-the-goods/ I just saw the video on youtube of her maiden win - wow! Gust of Wind, from Hauraki, Mongolian Khan, and my roughie Our IvanHowe - I'll probably have to chuck in Set Square and Hokko Brave as well.1 point

OP's Group One wins must be only fractionally ahead of the number of "house-mates" he has had. No young female jockey safe from his charms. Thought Danielle was a "keeper" but obviously not. Anyway think he will show his subtle ability on Saturday!1 point

I feel for you. It may well be that under the strict letter of the law you should have noted the "unanimous" wording when signing but morally, I too would feel hard done by.1 point -
If what you say is true that's pretty short sighted by the owner involved.I'd suggest most in that position would extend the lease I know we would. If the horse is leased off the breeder then it gets more complicated but many would still allow an extension. On the other side of the coin many owners are quick to bail from syndicates if things are'nt going to plan.1 point

You are correct,it is no crime,in fact it's a case of buyer beware. However it does indicate that the syndicate manager is morrally bankrupt and i would suggest that this type of behavior will land syndicate managers along side car salesmen, defence lawyers and politicians in the pool of people we love to hate.1 point -

No doubt that the syndicate manager has been getting the good oil from the trainer so would have known sometime ago that this horse was going to deliver as he/she got older. Time to expose the P...k so that others can avoid him. This will not have been an isolated case thats for sure.1 point -
I have put the boot into a few on trackside....but I do feel a bit sorry for the girl, saying that I havnt seen her yet. I suppose we had a great team a few years back....Keith Haub and the radio racing show.....how brilliant was that! These guys just really came across as brilliant. They had been in the game a long time, which I think is part of the trouble nowadays. We get a few good ones that we can build a few around.....but then they get sacked or leave. One reason the harness team do a good job, they have been in the game for quite a while.1 point

You seem to have completely missed the point Tom. I'm not remotely interested in hearing the "tips" of any presenter and I don't personally know any other punter who is. I would be more than content to have no presenter and just fill in the blanks for myself. If however there is presenter you would expect them to know relevant details of all runners they are talking about rather than just the bare minimum that blind Freddy could establish with thirty seconds homework. They are after all trying to encourage punters to wager. I'm a seasoned punter. I honestly don't believe I'm a very good punter but I do my homework and often come up with some excellent results. They are my own results both good and bad. The prospect of putting my money on someone else's tips has zero appeal. What's the point? If however a presenter wants to add to my facts to take on board I will happily listen providing they have at least some credibility. The sort of information I don't need is "this is number three having it's second start". . The sort of info I would value is something akin to "Bla bla ran a slashing third in it's first start after being late clearing the ruck, the first two runners in that race have since both gone onto win so the form of this runner holds up well". If you can't provide that sort of information or don't value it enough to pass it on then you shouldn't be doing the job. What I don't appreciate is a presenter talking to me the viewer as if I'm a young child. I will never enjoy that. So I'm being negative if I don't like or appreciate that? Why does that need to be the issue? How about the presenters coach K.F.E taking her to one side and reminding the presenter that her viewers are actually adults?1 point
