  1. It just goes to show how distorted this industry is. I would bet my left one that Richard Otto is not the only trainer to make poor decisions and battle financially. This compared to those in Petone that make poor decisions and wallow in their 6 figure salaries no matter what.

It's just an opinion scooby... It seems it's alright for you to say John O'Shea is overrated yet not alright for someone to call an NZ jockey overrated? This site is based on people sharing different views, maybe you should make it clear for everyone who is a protected species and who isn't.

    Final Field Odds

Pretty obvious what the TAB do..... Any Aus fields....they just wait closer till race time....then use tote odds as a guide and reduce F/Odds by heaps... They do the same with NZ meets, wait till money in the tote to guide them.....Bookies my arse.....Copy cats YES.

Like the occasion and environment are all too big for him. If any one can me exactly what his statistics (1,2,3) are at Caulfield and Melbourne then I would be most grateful. I cannot recall one winner in any big races, but please if you have the numbers, let them roll ......

    J & D DUNN

This old chestnut, KC Monet had to go forward over the shit mile at addington, Big Jivin was dropping back in class after leading up a NZ record fresh up and is and always been a free going front runner, and if no one else has the balls to make a move than why continue to crucify the Dunns when this happens. John is one of the best front running drivers we have and NEWSFLASH his brother is the best driver in the country. Time and time again these boys put there horses in the best possible positions to win the race and that's why they are so good.

    4th placing

After the greyhound industries hard grafter's being shafted by the Association in regards to petrol vouchers and the fact a stake increase is not likely in the next 100yrs then maybe its time we all get behind them paying us out for 4th place. The TAB now make very good money of 4th place getters and we are getting jacksh*t for supplying the product they are making all those bucks off. The horsey people would of kicked up a right stink by now but it doesn't affect them as they already earn stake money for running 5th. The first four bet type's are very popular and generate big dollars, I think it's time they paid for this product, should be at least $50 across the board for all 4th place runners despite grade/distance/feature race etc, keep it simple so they action it and don't attempt to put it in the "too hard bin".

    Wanganui sectionals?

Can anyone please explain why the Wanganui sectionals aren't uploaded onto thedogs website? Do they not want to increase turnover / provide punters with as much information as possible? It seems the only way to access them is to write them down after the race when they show the new semaphore board or listening to Rosanowski on radio trackside after the race. Surely it's not much to expect for the judge to record them and pass them onto whoever inputs the data on the website.

  8. Only bad thing is that the Aussie Tab's release their Saturday odds during the week, for every major meeting.

  10. I put my name to my post. I have no sympathy for those that go under who know there business is in bad shape and continue to trade no matter what ever industry they are in. Does he care about his debts to Farriers, Feed Merchants,Vets, Racing Clubs etc, who now are not going to be paid. All that happens is those who are a risk from trainers going under raise their prices to cover bad debts, and the good payers get penalised. How about T Serepesos, gone under for $200 million and a lot to small businesses. Photo in Prague having a sleigh ride, 8 weeks in Greece, driving a $200,000 car around Wellington and buying flowers for 20 year old with $100 notes. Now wants to be released from bankruptcy. He is not the only one snubbing his nose at those he has put at financial risk

    Wanganui sectionals?

They have had sectionals for sprints for a lot longer than 12 days Bev and I'm sure you know that as well. Unsure about the 520m sectionals but I remember Rozo talking about a dogs strong run home time over a sprint in April... Seems like sheer and utter laziness not providing CRUCIAL information for punters to try and make an informed decision.

    Wanganui sectionals?

How many group 1s are run over 305 at Wanganui Bev? For a track that runs 100+ meetings a year and can't provide punter's sectionals over 520m just isn't good enough in this modern era. 30.40 7qL2LN Opawa Racing Limited J & D Fahey

  13. I recently wanted to purchase FS from two very successful and very much in demand US sires....Bella Infrared and Djay's Octane. There is none currently in NZ, so I rang Geoff Collins in Aus and he explained that he can't send US frozen to NZ from Australia. Apparently getting FS from the US is very difficult and very costly due to NZ's quarantine laws. At present the easiest thing to do would be to send the bitch to Australia to be inseminated then fly her back but then the pups wouldn't be recognised as being NZ bred and therefore would be ineligible for the NZ bred races. Maybe GRNZ should investigate the possibility of how this can be rectified, done cost effectively and still allow the pups to be NZ bred. We should be improving our bloodlines not settling for second best or whatever is on offer.

And have the horse away from horse for 4 months. I'll bet that both horse and trainer are glad that you aren't in charge of travel arrangements!

EH ? I wasn't bagging MDP for his ride on Sunday at all, VESPA was unlucky to collect the wayward horse ! All I wanted to know was what MDPs record was at Melbourne and Caulfield, u know, 1,2,3 placings out how many rides ... BIG wins ? And if you wanna get bitchy about it, tell me ALL his big wins all over the world as well ......... could also be interesting ... and once again I have nothing against MDPs ride on VESPA (who this thread was about).

Chill fellas - both teams are full of wankers! Josh Reynolds is possibly the biggest f*wit in the game right now and I'd love to see him knocked the f out. Souths are slightly less wankerish since they got rid of the poisoned dwarf Sandow, but still we have to put up with Russell Crowe. Not sure the game will turn out to be the blockbuster the NRL wants. Souths to win comfortably but who really cares?

    Wanganui sectionals?

Have asked for the trackside cameras to make sure they show the board after every race. Also for them to be put up on the results page during the replay show. But yes they should be put into the results on the website too.

In my opinion 2+3 showed a significant lack of judgement in staying on the rails. They were never going to let him have it easy. Agree with Biffs comments about them not having read the race properly. Thats the price you pay when you use an out of town jock, from NZ or anywhere.

Well Noonu stole my thunder. No one should have any concerns about 2+3 riding in Melbourne. He's one of the best going around and it was just a shame that a rogue horse put him into the rail.

Why would you be worried about MDP on in Melbourne?? He has ridden Caulfield and Flemington numerous times including Caulfield and Melbourne cups. He knows Vespa and his ways better than any jockey. He is a world class jockey having ridden for years in the hotbed of international racing Hong Kong. In his last full season there he ran 7th in the premiership and you were worried. His achievements in Singapore and NZ are well documented. He is a champion jockey, a champion bloke and a proud Kiwi. Bring on Flemington next sat where he rides Bounding and Albany Reunion

Yes the leader is well known for laying in when tiring, so going up his inside probably wasn't the best idea.

    G Hall Snr = Tool!

Travelling a horse from Perth to anywhere is a very expensive exercise, and one that a smart operator like Hall Snr doen't undertake unless he's pretty sure he's going to get the thick end of the prizemoney when he gets there. Take a look at his strike rate when he travels. It's probably the best in the business. Clearly the horse isn't ready to produce his best, so he's cancelled the trip. A champion trainer, and a smart businessman. Funnily enough, the opinions of the "forum trolls" probably wasn't a factor in the decision to bypass the cup!

    G Hall Snr = Tool!

Aussie trainer talks the talk and walks the walk- diffference between arrogance and self confidence is his results speak for themselves- all Paul Court does is come up with a string of excuses for Terror to Love failing to win anything of merit in Australia..the draw was against him or he was blocked for a run.. so does this mean Terror to Love is only a champion when he gets the right run?? the Mighty Quinn makes his own luck..

  32. Gaf is more than welcome to run this years one then Me and Mrs McCook can go to Wingatui ( If Nek hooks us up with free tickets LOL) for a relaxing day in the sun at the races We would be keen on a share though if there was the numbers to make it worth while Gaf running it.

    G Hall Snr = Tool!

Yes, Hall Snr probably did go a bit over the top with his choice of words, but you can't argue with his case for claiming that Im Themightyquinn is the better horse. It doesn't matter whether you compare them on races won, prizemoney won, record at home, record on the road, head to head, times run, or any other criteria that that you can think of - Im Themightyquinn comes out on top every time. To suggest that they're somehow scared to front up for the cup is just plain ridiculous. The facts don't back that suggestion up either. They weren't scared to front up for an Interdominion - and win it. They weren't scared to front up for an Auckland Cup - and win it. Hall Snr is simply too smart an operator to spend $30 - $40k to travel to Christchurch unless the horse is 100% fit. That's just one of the reasons he's a champion trainer, and the knockers are conspiracy theorists. I'm as big a fan of Terror To Love as anybody, but the facts simply put Im Themighyquinn in a different league.
