Hard not to be impressed with the rich blood-lines of many of the runners at Taupo today. Representatives of Fastnet Rock, Lonhro, Flying Spur and Encosta de Lago from Oz as well as locals Pins, Darci Brahma and O'Reilly all distinguished themselves. Not forgetting of course the dam-side with Tristachine and Naturo both producing winners. Augers well for an exciting Spring racing season.

Does anyone know if there is there any way to listen to a replay of the Des Coppins show as I'd be interested to hear it? If Saunders did say what is quoted above it is quite different to what Mark Stafford said in Guerins article: "But Stafford says winning punters who the TAB do not suspect of using their odds for arbitrage will still be able to get on, although some of the bets are restricted in how much they are allowed to win." So now the story has changed from them banning less than 20 professional arbitragers to banning 40-50 accounts that showed significant wins.... This is a very slippery slope, what will be next, banning accounts that have been losing for many years but strike one large win on a quaddie or pick 6 that suddenly makes them "winning" accounts??

PUISSANCE DE LUNE Just how good is this horse!!!! His win in the Bendigo Cup was excellent and then he was sensational at Flemington when winning the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600) on the last day of the 2012 Cup Carnival. That day he won by six lengths with Bossie standing high in the irons as he cruised home. What was even more remarkable was that his last 600m was faster than the sprinters that day. Put aside he came in March and dead heated for first in the Blamey Stakes 1600m and would have bolted in if he had secured a run earlier. He was held up virtually the length of the straight that day. He then has some bone chips removed and resumed today in the Lawrence Stakes 1400m and after tailing the field until the 250m burst through with Bossie again standing up in the irons. He is being kept at wfa races including the Cox Plate to ensure he gets into the Melbourne Cup with a nice weight. Can he become the seventh horse to win the Cox Plate - Melbourne Cup double? The other six to do so were: Makybe Diva, Might And Power, Saintly, Nightmarch, Phar Lap and Rising Fast. Can't wait to see this impressive grey race again.

Cups markets have been out for ages - except on the NZ TAB! Puisance is a freak and is into $5.50 for the MC. This is a unheard of price so far out I have connections with the stable and the word is that PDL is a "FREAK". Lets hope he stays sound and shows that he may be the next Might and Power.
