    • 20/04/2024 AUCKLAND R2 RUSSIAN SATIRE,  fitter for trial win, distance idea, more rain is a help.. E/W R4 WIND OF CHANGE,  good second on G4, very capable on S6, nice draw, can win..  RICCARTON R4 ON SONG, shooting for 3, stepping up, Robert Dennis horse's often underrated, his  horses are firing and this one has some x factor.  R5 HELLY BELLY, another Robert Dennis runner, goes super 2nd up, can step up to this company. Good at jump outs in South before first up run. R7 TURF WAR, stiff when 6th , with no rain today he step  up to 1600m really suits.. E/W

    • Soft 5 on Raceday morning - does this mean we are past the foreseeable future and are now back in the dark ages again? 😎
    • There's a great story with the NZ 'Pardon My Dust' trotter Alf.  When starting out in harness around 1980 the Trotter Pardon My Dust was trotting around all the North Island tracks having started his 'trotting' career as 5 year old. He hammered away against Stormy Morn, Jenner and the like for years with very mild success. As a young horse he was tried as a pacer for 4 starts but did absolutely nothing so was dumped out for a long time 😁. Bit of luck he returns to that 'Pacing Form' today 😅😉  . so old rusty Pure Steel , who was the champion of Australian racing/pacing around 1980 can help get Rough Habit a win today.  Thanks very much Alf for your help with Pardon My Dust (Aus) , in this Comp. Let's see if he's got some Interdominion form ? now he's an Aussie 🇦🇺🤣   just pop picks in soon when check scratchings.
    • Nah dont you know ANY comment on the track is seen as being negative...we all got to sit back and wait for it to bed in remember...🤣
    • Fingers crossed for good news on your loved one....Family is the most important thing.
    • Great racehorse who i was lucky enough to pat at Eagle Farm, we have shares in an Impending filly who will hopfully do grandad proud😊
    • Each Saturday for 10 weeks you will be required to select two horses, from a list of prescribed meetings, who you believe will get beaten.   This is a risk-reward game - the more favoured the runner, the more points you will earn, however if your selection wins you will lose points and lose a life. Up to you which races you select - you can even pick two horses in the same race if you wish.  They just have to be races at the prescribed meetings (this will be all NZ races and maybe 2 or 3 Australian meetings). Scoring - if your runner does not win you will earn points equal to 100 divided by the Tote win dividend, eg. if the tote dividend was $3.50 you will earn 100/3.5 = 28.57 points.  If your horse wins you will lose 50 points and lose one life.   You will have a total of three lives across the 10 weeks.   If you reach three winners you are eliminated from the comp. The comp winner will be the person with the most points accumulated across the 10 weeks (from those who survive for the entire 10 week period), or the last person eliminated if nobody makes it through the entire 10 weeks.  Where entrants in contention are eliminated in the same week, they will be split by the points that they have after elimination  (ie. including points lost from your 3rd winner). Jokers (optional) - over the 10 weeks you will have two Jokers at your disposal - you don't have to use them if you choose not to - again risk & reward.  In any week you can nominate one of your two selections as a Joker play.  You can't play both Jokers in the same week.   Your Joker selection will earn double points, but will also lose double points if your Joker selection wins (-100 points).  Note, you will only lose one life (not two) if a Joker selection wins.   A few more detailed rules: Regular Scratchings - if any of your selections is a regular scratching you will earn zero points - you may survive 10 weeks by picking scratchings but my history with this comp tells me that you are unlikely to win that way (and it's also not much fun).  You can replace scratchings up until the posting deadline (in a new post please), but not after the deadline. Late Scratchings/Abandonments - if any of your horses is late scratched or in an abandoned race, you can replace it up until the posting deadline, but if you don't get the chance to replace you have the option of an extra pick (if you wish) the following week.  If this happens in the final week that is just the rub of the green - obviously no extra picks the following week. Dead-heats - if one of your picks dead-heats for first, it will count as a winner and you will lose 50 points and one life. Late entrants - we will accept new entrants in week 2, but again because the objective is to survive 5 weeks, they will start with -50 points and one life down.  Week 3, -100 points and 2 lives down.  No new entrants from week 4. Non posters - if you don't post in any week after Week 1 you will lose 50 points and one life.  If you don't post two weeks running you're eliminated. Prize $50 W/P bet usual rules for distribution apply.
    • Fours comp ends today so next Saturday we'll kick off a 10 week Losers Get Laid comp to keep things ticking over..  You should be familiar with the format.
    • AUCKLAND R8 MATANE, started at $12.00, now at $6.50. Trainers are performing well, received strong support from the start.
    • AUCKLAND R1 POUR THE WINE opened at $3.50 on Thursday, dropped to $2.70, now steady at $2.50. Showed promise when 3rd to Jaarffi and Town Cryer, especially on a wetter track. R5 ROEDERER opened at $12.00, now at $9.00, with early support. Won nicely last time, stepping up in class but could handle rain, worth considering. R5 ARMINO, supported early at $9.00, now at $7.00. Concerns about more rain? R6 THE PATANT STAINT, Forsman runner, opened at $16.00, now at $13.00. Winner over 1600m, stepping up to 2100m. Ran a great 4th over this distance two runs back. R7 DEVASTATE, Early support indicates potential, especially good 2nd up with a good distance and soft track. Opened at $9.00, now around $7.00.         RICCARTON R1 SAILING AWAY opened at $5.00, now steady at $4.50, showing improvement, worth monitoring. R5 ANNA AURELIA, with strong support at $11.00 down to $7.50 after winning at ASH over 1200m in 1.10.9. R5 DANGEROUS LIASONS opened at $5.50, now $4.20. Early support for this Tony Pike runner suggests a good run. R6 THE RADIANT ONE opened at $6.00, now tightened to $4.80, still considered good value. R9 HES A DOOZY opened at $5.50, now $4.50, supported well, despite concerns about performance on soft ground.
    • On a more positive note this rain should clarify any issues around  drainage . With the blame squarely targeting a 'matted root structure' which has now been 'loosened up' one could be left wondering if this will be  beneficial before this adverse Weather in the short term? Time will tell  but they should be making a  judgement call no latter than 11am so Horses and Riders are not exposed to potential risk in this ongoing experiment...racing during rain will be interesting
