Talented Matamata apprentice jockey Jasmine Fawcett is expected to be sidelined for the rest of this season after suffering a broken wrist when falling from Gingee in race four at Te Awamutu on Sunday.
Gingee knuckled over and fell with 800m to run in the 2000m event but the horse luckily escaped with only minor abrasions.
Video footage of the incident proved inconclusive and evidence was taken from riders, including Fawcett. She stated that Gingee fell free of interference.
The Waipa Racing Club’s meeting was abandoned after the fall.
Fawcett, 25, has chalked up 88 wins in her career and had been enjoying a good season with 29 wins, including one aboard Our Prom King at Ruakaka on Saturday.
