The highest-rated runner in the field, Deals In Heels, duly obliged in the $50,000 Listed Team Wealleans Matamata Cup to score her first black-type win.

Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Deals In Heels scored nicely by half-a-length from the favourite Demonetization.

She has recorded six wins and eight placings in her 18-start career and had previously recorded three runner-up finishes in stakes races.

Co-trainer Murray Baker said Deals In Heels had no luck at her previous outing at Hastings last Saturday.

“She nearly fell at Hastings,” Baker said. “She was picking up through the inside and the next thing you know she’s out of the play.”

At odds of eight-to-one, the Iffraaj mare was ridden to perfection by Matthew Cameron.

“She is from a good family that have all needed that time so I think there is plenty more in store for her as she gets a little bit older.

“I trained her mother who won eight races so if she can emulate her then we

will have a lot of fun along the way.”

Deals in Heels is raced by her breeder Emma Evans and is a daughter of Spinning World mare Fascinator who won eight races and is the half-sister to Gr. 1 Captain Cook Stakes winner Dezigna.
