ARROGANT SOLD TO HONG KONG

New Zealand-bred Arrogant, runner up in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m), has become the latest three-year-old sold to Hong Kong, joining the stable of Caspar Fownes for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.

The Michael Moroney-trained colt had been keenly sought by Asian investors after a series of competitive efforts in Group 1 contests, including a creditable fourth in the Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m).

“He’s a lovely colt that we have developed from a yearling into a Group 1 performer with a big future,” Moroney said in a statement.

“However, the offer was simply too good to refuse and he has been sold in a private negotiation brokered by my brother Paul.”
