Username / Password Problems

Choose your particular problem from the list below. If you are having a different problem, use the fault report form.

• I get the error "Unregistered Username"
• I get the error "Invalid Password"
• The username in the "Post Message" form is wrong
• The message which says "Welcome back (username)" contains the wrong username

Problem:
I get the error "Unregistered Username".

Cause:
You have entered a username which has not been registered, or you have mis-spelled your username.

Solution:

• If you aren't registered, you need to register.
• If you are registered, you need to enter your correct username exactly, letter for letter. Not an approximation, abbreviation or variation. For example, if you registered the name "Joe Bloggs", you cannot use "J Bloggs" or "Joseph Bloggs". If you do, you will get an error.
• If you can't remember your username, contact us with your real name and contact details.
• One more time, just in case you missed it - YOU MUST ENTER YOUR EXACT USERNAME! Nothing else will do!

Problem:
I get the error "Invalid Password".

Cause:
Either the username you entered belongs to someone else or you haven't entered the correct password.

Solution:

• If you haven't registered the username you entered, it already belongs to someone else. You'll need to choose another name and register it.
• If you have entered your correct registered username, the password you entered is incorrect or missing. Make sure that you have in fact entered a password, and remember that it is case-sensitive. For example, if your password is "sandy156" then "Sandy256" won't work.
• If you can't remember your password, contact us with your username, real name and contact details.

Problem:
The username in the "Post Message" form is wrong.

Cause:
The username in the "Post Message" form is the username which was last used from your computer. It is stored on your computer (along with your email address) in a cookie. You need to change it yourself - we can't do it for you.

Solution:
There are two ways to change the stored username (or email address):

1. Go to the Preferences page and update your details.
2. The next time you post a message, simply replace the incorrect username (or email address) with the correct one.

Problem:
The message which says "Welcome back (username)" contains the wrong username.

Cause:
This is exactly the same cause and solution as the "Post Message" username problem. See the solution above.
