Out of curiosity does anyone have any stories of any successful late bloomers? Any horses that didn't start there career until very very late and did OK?

Rainbow Patch started racing as a 6yo and won 10 races before retiring as an 11yo.

Basil Dean won his first race as a 6yo and managed 23 more wins before being exported to the states as a 10yo.

Tussle won her first race as a 6yo and won multiple races every season after ending up winning 38 races before retiring aged 12.

Yes, your right. Think David Moss first started racing as 6yo.

Been a few oldies, just can’t remember who they were. You don’t see it happen too much nowadays, but was common in the 80s.

Cinimod Junior started racing as a 7yo and won 10 races before retiring after 1 start as a 10yo.

Ken Webber had him really humming along as a 9yo winning 6 races including the Group 1 TVNZ Mile beating the likes of Spry Joker, Captain Cavalla, Freightman, Our Mana, Skipper Dale, Aran Blaze, Borana, Malaz and Master Mood.

Eyebrows were raised a few times with this horse.

New Years Jay  First race @late 6yo. clearly injury stopped her making to the track earlier won 5 from 7 and was disqualified from 1st on the other two times. would have been interesting 3yo and 4yo season Against Carabella And Bettor Cover lover had she been fit and well early in her career.
