What a shambles after they crossed the line in the Auckland Cup this afternoon with everyone waiting for the result. Ellerslie, dropping the judges call is utter stupidity.

Ted I was pissed off when they got rid of the “good morning everybody” guy so this just adds to the list

And then in the Sistema Stakes they got Spanish Whisper and Avantage mixed up on the semaphore board.  I was sure that Avantage had got second, but the electronic semaphore board said it got third.  Thankfully the tote got it right.

Makes me wonder about George’s eyesight. Even showed slow video of last race auck, quite clear who got bob in, yet Georgie still going for other horse.

yes they've removed the sense of drama and theatre whenever there's a really close finish esp in an iconic race like the cup.

"The winner of the 2018 Barfoot and Thompson Auckland Cup is number...." 

I like the clarity of the (new?) semaphore infield board at Ellerslie for official results being posted but don't understand why we cant have both.

There were a truckload of tight finishes over the to days of the carnival ..(incl the same horse, Rikki Tkki Tavi, twice by a nose!) so have some sympathy for George!

Judges call is a must, another downhill attitude from the powers, why do they do this without consultation we will never know! 

Great crowd yesterday and nice to be part of it, topped off by a night at Headquarters, great spot!

That’s a tough call on George, after the Cup, this was a 2nd example of the front horse only getting beaten by the out of sync bob of the nose of the other horse. So except for the precise moment they hit the line, it appeared that the winner was the 2nd horse. Sure it showed on the slow mo replay but you needed to look very closely to see it so your criticism is rather hard to me. As a Per Incanto supporter the result was great!

Judges call is a thing of the past and old tradition NZ has never been able to shake. You don’t here a judges call at Flemington or Caulfield do you? 

God help when Stu McGrail was the judge...it’d be only minutes before the next race he was finally able to yell it out - good to see the ARC team moving with the times. New Zealands premier club

The difference at Flemington and Caulfield is that they put up a photo of the finish virtually instantly so everyone can see the result in a matter of seconds, unlike here.

I don't care what the race is or where in nz it is, i think the judge's call should be broadcast like it used to, not second hand thorough the presenters, very poor in my book.
