Kundalini 640 Report post Posted March 7, 2018 PJ TT Super Comp I have never seen one of your comps as close as this current one. Any team is capable of defeating any other. Pleasing for me is the attitude of punters making their own selections without being negative and taking opponents pix. In an early round my rival selected 14 the same as me, but generally there are only 6-8 the same which makes for an exciting comp race by race. Howie must be shakin' in his slippers... Howie must be shakin' in his slippers... haha, Brian ....."shakin' in my slippers" .......hardly ! Even my detractors acknowledge that whatever my deficiencies and there are many ....lack of confidence isn't one of them ! My early assessment ...the dark Horsies are toast ! Dark Horsies on the slide on the leaderboard....Double AAs on the rise. You're absolutely right though about the closeness of the Comp overall, Brian. All down to the draft. In the interests of development of the sport we've sent our Mighty Blues geniuses to teams near and far, spreading the word and lifting the standards. Pete, Brian, Gordy, Geoff. Look at Pete ...top of the tree in the 'Magnificent Seven.' With the top scoring teams in the Comp being on 11 points only from 6 rounds, there may be a thought that Team Captains have recklessly wasted their Joker play. My view is ...not at all. The unprecedented evenness of teams is such that boilovers are a regular feature, and easy wins are a thing of the past. Well .................were a thing of the past .....until us Double AAs completely overwhelm the Dark Horsies this Saturday. Double AAs to deliver a masterclass. Interesting statement skipper. More often than not I pick after my opponent (because I like to see track conditions, scratchings, etc..) and on many occasions I will have 10 or more picks the same as my opponent. I tend to follow form and therefore don't often pick outside the first 4 or so favourites in a race. Picking second against someone who does likewise means I will often have a number of picks in common. I don't deliberately change my picks to have less in common (unless I've breached Peter's limit). I personally don't consider this is "negative" and I certainly wouldn't label it "taking opponents pix". If the person who picked second couldn't take their opponents picks then the first picker would have a huge advantage. I think Peter has set a very fair limit (6 different) - doesn't give either first player or second player advantage. Anyway back to my study - still trying to break into the Magnifcent 7. sharne, Gordy55, Kundalini and 2 others
N1MUE 1,877 Report post Posted March 7, 2018 Ooh what's this? A bit of dissent in the Maybe Dollars ranks!? TC challenging the party leadership - not sure that he'd have the numbers he needs to stage a coup. Meanwhile back at Lay Down Misere camp there is a relatively good vibe despite the current predicament - in last place but only a good second round joker play away from the top four. Which reminds me, Peter, is it top 4 that we're aiming for to be in the championship play-offs? Peter Jenkins 2,120 Report post Posted March 8, 2018 Yeah the lying flat or on the non-affected side is a trick to keep the pain to the minimum. Got those exercises thanks Dave. Years of semi-profeesional Football, 5 years as an athlete (running 15-20kms a day), a helicopter crash, playing social volleyball on concrete for a few years, all take their toll...... Should still be okay to score on Saturday thanks John although given the level of medication I'm on I'm not sure about my tipping !
