I am happy to be corrected but I thought Hundred Pipers was trained by Jim Smith ?

That 1970 meeting could of been the last appearance of Cardigan Bay at Alex Park ? ? at that stage he was in " retirement "  at Pukututu Island.

Driven down the straight by PTW. I think it took place after Double Cash's race maybe before the cup.

Someone's bound to know for sure who trained Hundred Pipers. Almost 50 years have passed since I came across that name, so I'm by no means confident that Irvin Behrns was trainer. My gut instinct though is that Irvin is the one.

I think you will find Hundred Pipers started it's racing with Jim Smith then transferred to Behrns.      In fact Irv drove it on quite a few occasions.

eljay correct. Jim Smith won four races with him at 3 and 4 then Irvin Behrns trained him at 5 winning five races with him and driving him each time. He started 51 times in NZ before being exported to the States in 1972.
