The Dark Horses had a couple of chances to win it in the last but both faded so The Betzas not only held on but extended their lead with Betty getting up to beat Sam. Graeme and Robert each added quinellas in the last with the latter adding a BB while Sarah (with a quinella) and Rosina completed the scoring for the Dark Horses. Dark Horse Moose was Man of the Match just heading Betzas' MVP Graeme while the Betzas picked up a bonus point for the margin.

The Lay Down Miseres' audacious plan had the match won a long way out but they capped the day with quinellas for all in the last while the Ad Augustas replied with a beaut BB quinella for Casper and Howie also scoring. The LDMs took the maximum points on offer with Gordy, John and Steve P sharing Man of the Match honours with a big total while Casper was a gallant MVP for the AAs.

The Rubiks ended the day in style with a BB quinella from Hesi and a quinella from Kloppite which got him up to beat Jill and win the match for the Cubed Ones who also passed the team profit mark for a bonus point. A bitter blow for the Mainly Dollarz who scored through Jill and MVP Tc who bagged a BB quinella to cap his continued unbeaten run. Hesi was Man of the Match.

The Royles all failed to score in the last while the Five No Trumps successful Joker play was crowned with collects from Rob (a BB quinella), Steve (a BB) and Ian. This took The FNTs past the team profit mark adding a bonus point to the one for the 4-1 margin giving them an 8 point haul with the Joker play. Jen was the Royle's MVP while Redrum put up a big score for Man of the Match.

The Table after ROUND 13

1st 29 Ad Augusta* $14,104.60

2nd 27 Betza Grands* $13,945.20

3rd 22 Five No Trumps* $14,234.20

4th 22 The Dark Horses* $13,948.80

-------- finals qualification mark---------------

5th 21 The Rubiks $14,395.40

6th 20 Lay Down Misere* $14,684.60

7th 20 Mainly Dollarz* $14,215.20

8th 17 The Royle Family* $12,181.00

Despite losing horribly today the Ad Augustas remain on top and have already qualified for the Finals. The Betza Grands win consolidated their 2nd placing while the Five No Trumps Joker-fuelled win took them up 5 slots to 3rd. Defeat for the Dark Horses cost them a place while The Rubiks won but remain 5th. The Lay Down Miseres' astonishing performance only took them up one place but they are just two points off a qualifying place. The Mainly Dollarz were the day's bis losers dropping 3 places while the Royles slumped two slots into the cellar but can still make the Finals. The Rubiks are the only team left with a Joker to play.

Nice work team LDM.  Always good when a plan comes off and now we go in to the last week still with an outside shot at the play-offs.  Steve P marvellous tipping today!!

Nice to have such a healthy aggregate too in the event of a tie - might be like an away goal.

Howie and the AAs - unfortunately you caught us on one of our good days.  I'm sure you'll bounce back next week - in fact, please do bounce back next week - we need your help.

Very well done John, Gordy, Steve P, Rees and Tony.

Truly outstanding performance by 'Lay Down Misere' today with a novel plan never seen before in the history of PJ Super Comps, and executed to absolute perfection with everything they touched turning to gold. We Double AAs got an absolute pasting but we've no problem with  that ...it happens. Good fortune hasn't really run LDMs way through the first 12 rounds of the comp, so good on them for such a strong fight-back with a day for them to savour. Good luck next week for an equally successful result to see you in to the playoffs.

And elsewhere, the brilliant TC goes 13  from 13 ! Astonishing.

I've had TC's application to be considered for the Mighty Blues wider training squad, in my inbox for two or three weeks now, and I have to say he's presenting a reasonably strong case for inclusion. I'm thinking it won't belong before we have our people talking to TC's people.

Thanks for your scoring and updates today, PJ. Much appreciated, as always.

Roll on next Saturday. It can't come quickly enough ! :D

Cheers, all.

This has been one of the best ever PJ Super Comps, in my humble opinion, and I've been in most of them.

They keep getting better and better.

Leaves all other tipping comps in the shade.

And a very big thank you to PJ for that ...and thanks also to all participants.

Great entertainment every Saturday.

Absolutely Howie!  I look forward to Saturday mornings because of this comp (and not having to go to work of course).

What did Molloy call this comp?  Dry? Boring?

Thanks Howie.  You were right in your predictions about Geoff - both best bets won and one of those was a quinella.  I was just lucky to nab a few winners in between (and lucky the rain came for Megablast).

13 from 13 doesn't count for much however if you don't make the play-offs.

hehe .... you're too modest, TC. :) The rest of us know better than to conclude that it's all down to "luck to nab a few winners" here and there. When someone goes 13 from 13 then far more than luck is at play.

What you've done in this comp is something very special, and I'm very glad I'm taking part to see that.

Of course you've set the bar very high for yourself for future PJ comps ! .......................Still ...you know best. :D:D
