Good spot Rees - forgot to update that cell in the spreadsheet.  Of course it was meant to read #1 Hartnell

TAB dividends now up for the previous race.  Hartnell paid $5.30 - new dividend will be reflected in the final results.

Sorry to put you wrong there John. I took it from racing.com as an official result. Crazy day and congrats to Jill for outsmarting me which wasn’t all that hard today. Huge thanks to John for a job very well done.

Rubiks (5th) vs Ad Augusta (6th)
3 Rubiks $1252.4    (2 points)
2 Ad Augusta $1130.2  (0 points)

Geoff with an impressive 8 winners earns MOTM honours and helps the Rubiks to a 3-2 win. Catalano was MVP for Ad Augusta who led early but were hit hard by Break My Stride.

2 Betza Grand $1168.4  (0 points)
3 Mainly Dollarz $1237.8  (2 points)

Brian takes the honours in the Lobster Bowl and fitting that he tilted the match in the second to last race. Losing captain Betty was WOTM with 7 winners and TC continued to avoid the curse with 7 winners to top score for Mainly $$$.

$153.00 Richie

$169.00 Dave
$335.60 TC

3 Lay Down Misere $1162.4  (2 points)
2 Five No Trumps $927.6  (0 points)

Runner-upFlippant would have won it for FNT but LDM hold on to upset the leaders with a narrow 3-2 win. Gordy jumped out of the gates fast and was MOTM for LDM while Redrum top scored for FNT. Redrum picked the card in NZ but didn't pick a winner in Oz.

$352.80 Gordy
$89.00 Ian

$257.00 Rees

1 Royle Family $731.6   (0 points)

Dark Horses made a telling move in Race 9 to earn themselves a nice 4-1 win. Korio was MOTM courtesy of a nice best bet quinella with Booker, while captain Pete top scored for his Royle Family.

$226.00 Pete

$48.00 Skelly
$137.00 Heather

Table after Round 3

Five No Trumps suffer their first loss and drop behind Mainly Dollarz on aggregate, although the latter have used their first round joker.  Betza Grand remain in 3rd despite losing while The Rubiks win lifts them one spot into 4th place.  The dark Horses are the days big mover jumping from last place up to 5th.  LDM up one spot while the Royles drop three places and Ad Augusta two places - not what Howie wants to see when he gets home from his birthday party.   Still a long way to go and not a lot from top to tail.

Yes we have no bananas. Brilliant win guys and good scoring all round with some good losing totals. Geese bro, that was close. Good matchup.

And a big thanks to John. Given the man a beer.

Cheers Rees - just cracked open a Tuatara pilsner and it hits the spot nicely.  Nice work today - your win made the difference in the end.  Good team effort all round - I think we're on the up and we've played three of the top teams so far - in fact we've beaten the top two teams.

I've been coasting a bit lately and needed the "Howie incentive plan" to pull finger. Sorry Casper, you were collateral damage :)

Well done, Geoff. You can take the boy out of the Mighty Blues but you can't take the Mighty Blues out of the boy, eh ! You're obviously a "big match" player, no "coasting" today when you found yourself up against one of the most successful tipsters in PJ Comp history - Casper. Great response. I'm gonna ask you for some tips this week 'cos the Double AAs are up against John's outfit so we're gonna need all our wits about us.

Well done,  Rubiks, too strong today for an Ad Augusta outfit stacked with talent but yet to really fire. Top stuff from Geoff of course leading the way with his 8 wins, and Hesi and Kloppite in particular kicking in nicely to back him up. I was pinning my hopes on snatching back a late 3-2 victory with 16-1 shot Mr So And So, but second was it's lot. And there our hopes died. All the best Rubiks for the rest of the competition. Good scoring today from my team-mates, and I'm sensing we're not far off being dangerous. We might be 8th of 8, but history tells us that that can be turned around very quickly, particularly with a judicious Joker play.

Thanks again for a sterling effort scoring and updating today in treacherous conditions, John, very much appreciated by us all. You rest up now, John ...because there's a big challenge coming your team's way in 7 days time ...and I mean BIG !

Cheers.

Howie v Steve P.

Steve's record in recent Comps is second to almost none.

So I'm starting my study now ...even though the fields aren't out. :D

Mate you are in trouble here. Steve hasn't hit his straps yet, in cruise mode so to speak. He he , can't wait to see the outcome of this matchup. :)

Match of the Round will surely be :-

Casper v John

Big, big match-up.

Ha ha Howie, there's a reason that match-up is at the bottom of Peter's post.  It's like saying I'm looking forward to the match-up between say Jonny Evans (West Brom) and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace), when Manchester City and Liverpool are playing on the same day.
