Eclipsed 245 Report post Posted December 30, 2017 From Queensland yesterday. The times there are an hour later so the horse, if anything, should have arrived an hour earlier and not an hour later! Real shame for the Kiwi connections. From racing.com Night's Watch scratched after no-show 30 December, 2017 , ( The Darren Weir-trained Night's Watch was scratched from the Magic Millions Shoot Out Quality (2200m) at Doomben on Saturday, after failing to arrive on course in time. Weir confirmed at Ladbrokes Park on Saturday that indeed his staff had erred in their preparation with the OTI Racing-syndicated galloper, and were too late in arriving on course after failing to factor in the time difference coming from Victoria (Queensland is one hour behind when Daylight Savings take effect). Night's Watch was bidding to earn an 11th-hour ticket into the $1million Magic Millions Trophy at the Gold Coast's rich raceday on January 13. The horse travelled up to Queensland in solid form, having banked two wins and a runner-up finish from his past four starts, as well as a luckless fourth in the Werribee Cup on December 10. Trump 2,741 Report post Posted December 30, 2017 I don't understand. If their Watch (I assume the Strapper's Watch) was on Melb time, then he/she should have arrived on course an hour earlier! Someone has either slept in or it's a lame excuse. They wouldn't have travelled to the course from Ballarat, so this is interesting. If they were stabled in NSW somewhere, then they should arrive earlier not later. Interesting. Belinda
Memphis2 1,078 Report post Posted December 30, 2017 They were stabled an hour from the course. Weiry seems a genial guy but I bet this didn't make him happy. Everyone knows Qld is in curtain saving mode !!
