ivanthegreat 1,123 Report post Posted November 13, 2017 Great to have CUP DAY around again , not going this year but have been to many of them in the past my favorites being ROBALAN and CHRISTIAN CULLEN......... my old hotel the " CROWN PLAZA " is no longer there opposite the Casino much the pity However I note the experts are out in force with about $3,500 worth of suggested bets.......... pity is IMHO I would be very surprised if either of the 3 make any money or certainly not enough to fly back to Auckland anyway. I note that the programme included an ad for " Responsible Gambling " which is rather ironic. As a betting strategy having $100 on each race is flawed. I have enough money in my TAB A/C to buy 2 1st class tickets to France so I have the credentials to question the likes of Mick G and Greg O'Connor after all they have the opportunity to show us every race meeting and fail to come up with a profit. Happy to post the results later today. And Happy Punting. Cheers. Fartoomuch, GoHarness, Thejanitor and 1 other 2
globederby12 1,495 Report post Posted November 14, 2017 Well I don't usually criticize the commentators, especially Mick ,as I respect their roles as frontmen for the sport. But after watching the lead up to the Trotting FFA , I had a quiet chuckle to myself. It was Marcoola this and Marcoola that. I know I might sound biased as we had Dark Horse in it, but I wouldn't have backed Marcoola with counterfeit money. It proved me right and finished last. C'mon Mick that was dreadful. Lizzie did us proud steaming home on a 1.56 plus mile rate for 4th from the widest draw. Great lead up for the Dom. Well a bit better than I expected BUT an overall loss for the 3 of $262 having invested $100 per race on 12 races..... $3600 which I would assume mean't they spent more than they got paid for the day. Greg O'C ..................as $343 up ( given credit for a win not a place for Chase Auckland as I didn't mark as either ( most big bets were places ) Mick da Mouth Guerin...... was $515 down ( erh ! ! and only 12 races to prove myself .... with $100 place on No Dr Needed in the Cup woefull ) C.T ( The Whale ) ............... was $90 down ( Good luck with that Tipping site ) FOR MINE I thought the picks lacked a bit of initiative as many of the pools were very good for exotic betrs rather that $100 win or place on something paying $1.70 or $2.00. Most of the winnings actually came from the cup TFA. Overall rather underwhelming considering all the information presented to promote these pick's were presented as if the viewer had been in a Balanese gaol for 20 years. Better luck next time.
