jeepers 276 Report post Posted November 5, 2017 I was looking forward to the old boy running as he might have given it a shake again. Sad for the O'Leary family. Humphrey and Shaun looked like they were enjoying the build up at the draw. Belinda and jess

Only thing I can think of is the the emergencys would be horse numbers 25, 26, 27, 28 etc etc, and the totes wouldnt be able to handle it if they did get a run. And looking at it at another way, I'd say it would be too confusing if the 1st emergency was then allocated horse number 11 (that being Who Shot the Barmans original horse number). Memphis2 1,078 Report post Posted November 5, 2017 Sad for the connections.Big crew has travelled over. Emergencies always a touchy subject. No one has been able to come up with a solution yet. Lloyd Vivian
jess 1,244 Report post Posted November 5, 2017 Bugger. He's a good horse - earned his place in the fields and had rotten luck. I'm glad at least he got that nice win the other day for the crew but it must be bitterly disappointing. Lloyd Vivian 742 Report post Posted November 5, 2017 Pardon my ignorance here - but is it just the sheer size of the pools that makes it such a difficult thing? Why can't it be handled like other races where an emergency gets a run?? Just curious..

How do they get on with Aintree grand national. 40 starters,do they not take betting on that

The only way I could see the NZ TAB being able to take betting on that race would be them doing it as a "Fixed Odds" option. Interestingly, I just looked at the Fixed Odds Options for the Christchurch Casino NZ Cup.. Option 984 - No 41 is Red Cardinal at $31. I think you'd do your money cold if you backed it as highly unlikely to line up in the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday and then come across to NZ for it. (yes Empire Rose did it but she was coming "home" so to speak).
Tauhei Notts 1,403 Report post Posted November 5, 2017 Red Duke has 53.5kg in The Cup. If one looks at the ratings here he would have to give Megablast, the likely topweight, seven kilograms in the Cup at Riccarton. Red Duke is rated 110 compared to Megablast's 96.
