The Crucible 632 Report post Posted October 14, 2017 Verlander, Altuve and Correa - outstanding! You won't see a much better baseball game than that.
The Crucible 632 Report post Posted October 15, 2017 Verlander threw a complete game, 124 pitches with 13 strikeouts - amazing. The clip below is one of his strikeouts - Gary Sanchez, one of the Yankees up and coming stars. This is a joy to behold. https://www.mlb.com/video/yanks-set-playoff-record-with-k/c-1863254383?tid=94787060
The Crucible 632 Report post Posted October 18, 2017 Bad loss for the Astros today. Led 4-0 heading into bottom of the 7th and lost 6-4. Big momentum shift in favour of Yankees as they have tied the best of seven series at 2-2 and host game 5 tomorrow. Astros looking to game 1 winner, Dallas Keuchel, to right the ship. Dodgers doing a number on the tired Cubs pitching staff - lead series 3-

The Crucible 632 Report post Posted October 22, 2017 That was one heck of a series. World Series should be a cracker. First World Series between two teams with 100+ regular season wins, since 1970.
Casper 222 Report post Posted October 23, 2017 I think the Astros will be trying to play dodge ball Once the best pitcher in the MLB (CK) gets into his groove it'll be Houston we have a problem
The Crucible 632 Report post Posted October 23, 2017 Big fan of Clayton Kershaw and he is easily the best pitcher in baseball during the regular season, but has come up short in the post-season in the past. If the Astros batters can show good plate discipline (I think they had the lowest strike-out rate in baseball this season) then an upset could be on the cards. The Crucible 632 Report post Posted October 28, 2017 The WS has taken a bit of a turn the past two games. As Casper predicted, Clayton Kershaw dominated the Astros to win game 1 for the Dodgers. Dodgers led game 2 by 3-1 after seven innings. Astros scored one run in the 8th but still trailed by 3-2 heading in to the 9th. This season, prior to this game, the Dodgers were 98-0 when leading after 8 innings. Astros were three outs from heading home trailing by 2 games to NIL. So you can guess where this is going. Up steps Marwin Gonzalez, who has been pretty ordinary in the postseason, and hits a solo homer off Kenley Jansen - one of the games premier closers. Game goes into extra innings and Astros win 7-6 after a few more twists and turns. Back to Houston for three games and today the Astros won game 3 by 5-3 with nice pitching performances from their third starter (McCullers) and their long relief guy (Peacock). Astros lead 2 games to 1 with game 4 coming up tomorrow. No doubt plenty more momentum shifts to come. The extract below copied from the TAB website just now shows that the Dodgers are paying $101 to win the series by 4-1. With the Astros having won 2 games you'd probably want slightly longer odds than that Option 2961 World Series Correct Score No. Selection Odds 2 LA Dodgers 4-1 101.00 3 LA Dodgers 4-2 6.00 4 LA Dodgers 4-3 4.00 6 Houston 4-1 3.75 7 Houston 4-2 3.60 8 Houston 4-3 5.

The Crucible 632 Report post Posted October 29, 2017 Yes best of 7. Astros closer Ken Giles has been shaky in this series and today he lost the game in the 9th. Tied at 2-2. Game 5 in Houston tomorrow and then back to Dodgers stadium for final 2 games (if both needed). Great series.

The Crucible 632 Report post Posted October 30, 2017 I said there'd be a few more momentum shifts - didn't realise they'd all come in game 5. Wow that was some game - one of the more remarkable games in World Series history. Dodgers led 4-0 behind Kershaw, Astros tied it 4-4 Dodgers led 7-4, Astros tied it 7-7 (three run shot from AL MVP Altuve) Dodgers led 8-7 (error from Springer), Astros tied it up 8-8 - no doubter from Springer to atone for his error Astros led 11-8 (Altuve double and Correa dinger) Dodgers close to 11-9, but McCann replies with a solo homer to make it 12-9 Astros Dodgers score three runs in top of the 9th to tie it at 12-12. Astros win it 13-12 with a walk off single to Alex Bregman in the bottom of the 10th inning. Bregman with an RBI in his first 5 World Series games. Still one or two games to go and lots of very tired pitchers in both bullpens. Could be plenty more runs and lots of twists and turns. Cheers - I love play-off baseball. I got my predictions horribly wrong with the Indians and the Dodgers (sorry Gruff), but glad the Astros prevailed.
