Kidmenever would have put the Blues ahead but the Laming lunger was only selected by Howie (with a BB) for The Blues and 'Canes pair John and Hesi. It's all down to Gordy catching TC with his BBs on Invincibella or Petition - the two favourites ! Gonna be some climax....

Gruff, you were brilliant today, absolutely brilliant.

One of the best performances of the entire Spring Comp !

Well done, and well done fellow Turbos. Our form was pretty ordinary through the comp, but we finished on an absolute high.

Thank you, Turbos, and a big thank you to the organizer PJ, brilliantly done sir.

Grand Final & Wooden Spoon Playoff

Race 10 - Sandown R10

1st - 16 Long Time Ago W-$12.80

2nd - 10 Mrs Gardenia Q-$49.20

scr: 1,9,15

subs: #5 then #8

3 THE HURRICANES (3rd)

$792.20

2 THE BLUES (8th)

$664.80

Despite going into their race with a Grand Final victory hinging on the two faves The Blues were not able to turn the tables and THE HURRICANES are the 2017 Spring Trans-Tasman Champions. No one picked the final winner. Pete with 4 winners was the Auks MVP while Hesi, also with 4 winners was Man of the Match. It wasn't a scintillating final with both teams not going too wide but it was nevertheless absorbing. Congrats to all for making it this far with a special shout to the well-managed and resilient Hurricanes. Thanks to all for their participation and the kind words in the final entry thread. It's much appreciated. I'm not sure what Sharne's horse was trying to do rear ending one of the Blues' hopes halfway up the straight - giving it a push perhaps ! Those darn Kats !

129.20 The Crucible

111.60 Gordy

Wooden Spoon Match 3 (Third of a best-of-three series)

0 THE FERDIES (9th)

$440.20

5 THE TURBOS (10th)

$2060.20

The Ferdies were no match for a scintillating Turbos side today and all missed in the last where Gruff bagged a stunning BB quinella to post one of the highest personal scores ever and take Man of the Match honours. Moose also nabbed the final winner just to rub it in ! Heather was the Ferdies MVP on a day when they picked just 9 winners between them and were rewarded with the Wooden Spoon which has major implications when your team has suffered a downtrou ! Thanks to all for playing and I hope we will see you all back in some future comps. Thanks to Winfreux also for helping out the Ferdies for the past few weeks - good effort.

Fair to say the Canes were pretty pleased to see Invincibella four wide the whole way.

Thanks to the Blues for a great match - went right down to the wire and I truly thought you had us heading into the last race.  Always a pleasure to play against you guys - you add a lot of colour to these comps.

Thanks to my Canes team-mates.  Cubes thanks for stepping up part way through the season - much appreciated.  Porky, great addition to our team and clearly the winner of the "rookie-of-the-season" award.  Hesi and John - both unbeaten in the three knockout rounds - brilliant.   John, that's three Super Comps in a row now - maybe time to retire!?

Peter - thanks again and see you for the Summer-Autumn comp :)

Heartiest congratulations to our friends and rivals the Hurricanes - TC, John, Hesi, Porky, Cubes.

Absolutely worthy champions  ....again !  Brilliant.

Thanks to my Mighty Blues Brothers Pete, Gordy, Brian and Geoff. You guys have been great, and very well led by debut captain Pete. Top effort Blues to come from 8th and last qualifying spot, to finish the closest of seconds. It wasn't our greatest day of tipping today, but when Kidmenever had it's nose in front a stride from the post in the penultimate race we had the winning of the match. Coulda, woulda, shoulda ....ultimately we came up short. But what fun it has all been.

Biggest thanks of all to PJ ...thanks for your wonderful comps and all the pleasure they have given to all of us. You're truly a legend, PJ.

A special mention to my fellow Harness team members for their efforts in doing so well. Especially the dark horse from Perth finishing 4th of the Mag 7. Great effort Paul, closely followed by Jack of course.

We might get another shot at it, let's hope so. Thanks once again PJ.

Thanks for a great match Blues - you guys were very unlucky.  Just nabbed in the second to last, and a slightly better than 50% chance going into the last race (if the market was right) - that was until Ben Melham went to work ......

Cheers Peter - looking forward to the new competition.

.Thanks for a great comp PJ... nice to be part of a champion team...left my worse week for last, pulled a hamstring and put undue extra pressure on teammates.

Love the concept as it sets you up for your own personal punting for the day, having done all the study.

Cheers Blues, takes two to tango..as the Crucible said,.I also though you had us with Invincabella in the last.

Having just scored a poultice from Porcelain Princess at Waverley, it reminded me of my literal suicide attempt yesterday when I jumped into the big white telephone and Hesi came along and pulled the chain.

CONGRATULATIONS HURRICANES

One blardy day it will be the Mighty Blues.

As a punter that plonks any bets on the nose it was so traumatic to get so many seconds and thirds to miss out on the most important podium in race tipping.

A Gold Medal was to be my swansong, but a new drawing board is my lot....Thanks for Everything Howie, Geoff, Gordy and Captain Mighty Pete.

I told ya...."Cowboys DO Cry.

PJ...There is a strong gossip around the traps that the next TT Comp will be coming out of the new Arrowfield headquarters in Whangamomona.

Many Thanks

Brian
