The Chiefs need Tezlah to win and Tamasa to complete the quinella for Wrinkles and hope it pays enough

If that happens Peter, Cubes will pass Casper and cancel it out.  I think Ian was right to concede.

Thanks for a great match team Chiefs - congrats especially to Tony - nice tipping.

Nice work team Canes!  See you next week Blues.

scr: 9

subs: #4 then #5

1 THE FLYING SULKIES (2nd)

964.60

4 THE BLUES (8th)

1259.00

Everyone missed in the last so the Blues - the Finals 8th seed - have made it through to the Grand Final with Brian their Man of the Match today. The Sulkies, for whom Richie was MVP, put up a great performance in the comp and have only fallen at the final hurdle. Great effort guys !

65.00 Robert

259.00 Howie

284.00 Richie

93.00 Gordy

174.00 Mardy

3 THE HURRICANES (3rd)

1245.80

2 THE CHIEFS (5th)

993.20

The Hurricanes had it won before the last in which everyone missed the Pierro winner. John edged TC for MVP honours for the Capital Lads while Tony was Man of the Match for the Chiefs who bid us farewell after a competitive effort in the Spring comp. Thanks guys !

331.40 John

157.00 Wrinkles

64.00 Cubes

131.00 Casper

287.40 Porky

4 THE FERDIES (9th)

1615.00

1 THE TURBOS (10th)

882.00

The Turbos all missed in the last as supersub Winfreux landed a big BB to secure the day's biggest personal total, claim Man of the Match honours and head off Moose to extend the 'Naki's winning margin ! His unlucky opponent Moose was Turbos' MVP. The Ferdies have at last found form posting the day's biggest team total and drawn the rubber so it's on to next week for the Wooden Spoon playoff. Thanks Turbos

A big bow to our harness friends. You guys rocked and really put up some great performances.

As a first time captain, hats off to my team the Blues. We went to some dark places in the qualifying rounds but class came out and here we are in the final after only qualifying in 8th by a very slim margin.

Special mention to Howie who has kept his head up and been brilliant despite some unbelievable losses earlier on.

Take a break boys, job well done and I'll see you at training on Wednesday morning.

Firstly congratulations team Hurricanes  a great match up against team Blues, a fun week ahead, bragging rights on the line enjoy.

Peter thank you for your endless contribution to this thread/comp, if this is to be the last comp it has been a pleasure to have been a part of it.

I thought I read somewhere it was ending due to a lack of interest, maybe I was dreaming this as wasn't there a few reserves?? anywho many thanks

Finally thank you to my team mates Jill, Wrinkles, Tony and Ian thank you for being so vigilant with your posting and making my job as Captain an easy one it was an enjoyable ride with you guys/gals all the best in the off/festive season.

Best of luck Canes/Blues

Cheers

Thanks Rees. I have not made a decision and won't until January. I am working on a major start-up project which if it happens may give me more time to keep the comps going. It is big and small at the same time although I know that makes no sense ! It will be big news if it happens. I will keep everyone posted.

I enjoy the comps and if they continue may look for some feedback to improve them. I think the draft idea worked well

Hi Peter, there are many of us who hope you continue - I personally get a lot of enjoyment out of these comps.  I'm happy to help score anytime if you want to ease the burden on yourself.

I like the draft concept - adds a lot of interest.

Another suggestion, that I think I mentioned to you previously, is when you get to the play-offs, you let the captain of the higher seeded team pick the five individual match-ups in the coming week rather than drawing them at random.  Under the current play-off system there is no real advantage for the higher ranked teams (if you think of each match-up as a 50:50 chance).  Not sure that picking match-ups gives you an advantage either but would add a bit of interest.  You'd just need to set a deadline for captains to reply, before you default to a random draw.

Good luck with your start-up venture.
