I don't believe the above statement!

WINZ has never ever contacted me to question my relationship status since I have had my gold card and been collecting the money.

You would think that someone in my position would be questioned every year given my record in the marital stakes!

Well you must be a model citizen and beyond reproach.  Every other person I am aware of on the pension gets letters. Haven't changed addresses have you?

No not at all. A couple of years ago my latest husband made the grade (65years) and signed up.

I have never had any communication from them since I first signed up.

Furthermore (based on what I have read because of the Winston effect) it seems that if both people are eligible, the entitlement per person is greater, so I think that I had better check it out.

Sort of the reverse!

Me contacting them, rather than them contacting me!!!!!

Have to confer with Insider here. My wife has never heard from them since signing up. The system seems broke.

Had to laugh tonite after watching English state they would build 200 thou homes in the next 6 yrs.

As a tradesman, that has to be the most outrageous statement in NZ history by any politician.

That equates to 91 homes a day, finished. Do the math for the amount of tradesmen needed for that and we will need container ship loads of suspect immigrant tradesmen.

NZ is headed for 3rd world .

Talking about immigrants. In the last week I have spoken to an aussie and an Englishman who both told the identical story of how they were in England until recently. One was a carpenter and one a scaffolder, both said they were making a good living in England until about 4 years ago when almost overnight they could not get any work due to the polish being allowed into England to work. Don't quite understand how it worked but apparently no real restrictions on  the polish taking their jobs and because they were very good tradesmen willing to work for half the price they got all the work. The local tradesmen were very upset with the Englishman saying that's why they ended up with brexit, and why he came out here looking for a better life.

So I guess if your a national supporter, you might want to lobby your party to allow the poles to come here. Of course that would undercut the local tradesmen, just like it already has in some of the unskilled industries here.

I was suckered by her original story as well O'man. Clever way of giving added impetus to the intended apology! Always thought Smalley was a flake but obviously also a cunning bitch. In my obviously white male misogynist opinion.

But didn't Labour say that's not enough? They're going to build several times that number. Again where is the money and labour and contractors going to come from. All bloody puffery. And so far winston has made promises worth $28 Billion. The whole thing is a bloody joke.

If Labour's vote rises much more Winston wont be needed.

Labour/Greens/Maori

The worst possible scenario for the country & Racing.

National need Winston far mare than Labour do, but the Tories need there own vote to stay around 45% or they are fooked.

Getting the picture Hesi?

Jacinda will find in  short time that her solutions won't work.

There needs to be a regional re-location plan, with office blocks, manufacturing etc offered incentives to relocate to Waikato, BOP & Northland in the first instance and then further away.

Unfortunately for 9 years, the Nats chose to sit on their hands with the big hoary chestnut that housing affordability has become, a bit like the way racing's leaders have done nothing for 30 years.

John Roughan from the NZ Herald, puts it better than I ever could

It feels like time for a generational change because the present Government's big failure has been housing. It waited too long to do anything to dampen the demand that sent house prices through the stratosphere and has deprived too many of the younger generation of much hope of home-ownership. The Government left it to the Reserve Bank to eventually introduce loan-to-value restrictions, and left it to Labour to utter the once-unspeakable phrase, capital gains tax.

For those that think the younger generation should just try harder.

A house in one of Aucklands lesser suburbs, that's 800K, so a 160K deposit, with a 640K mortgage.

At ANZ's current floating rate of 5.79%. that's $3751/month($866/week) for 30 years.

I doubt even the greedy banks would loan to most young couples on that basis.

And that will give the Nat's the heave - the affected young folk will oust them big time - the slaughter nears

Can anyone name a country where the major cities houses are affordable and i'm not talking crap countries.

Apart from Houston i can't think of any.Houstons houses are very affordable because of the amount of land available for housing unlike other cities where they have restrictions.

p.s, they may be a lot more affordable now

Most places in the US are cheap Crusty outside the main centres....Houston is cheap because it is low lying and surrounded by water. Disaster waiting to happen. Places in Texas are extraordinarily cheap to buy...$100-200k.

Son is over there now in San Clemente, pricy area near the beach outside LA. Looking at Colorado as large property much cheaper there.

Same old story though in places where the prices might be cheap,  would you want to live there....?;)

I think the Maori Party are going to struggle to keep Labour at bay in the electorate seats Barry so they could be gone as well.

The poll I saw had Howie Tamati miles a head of his labour opponent so it's probably fairly safe to say they will get one or two seats.

Yep, and all that the only real opposition needed was the right messenger, someone who they could identify with, someone who actually seemed like they cared enough to try and do something about it.

Not another wooden politician, that unfortunately Andrew Little came across as

Promises promises, taxes and handouts galore, airy fairy policies..."trust my values".....really.....??

And there is fuck all they can do about the Auckland prices...it is supply and demand. Unless they slash immigration and require anyone coming in to go anywhere but Auckland.....the status quo will remain.

I had a very interesting meeting through the week with a  lawyer in Auckland who specialises in ACC litigation.

He informed me that the top hierarchy at ACC are already squirming when they are now looking like being faced with a new minister whom they will have to answer to in regard to the behaviours of some of their people over the last few years, there are a few Labour stalwarts/ministers that are really looking forward to sitting down with the ACC hierarchy and asking for an explanation as some of the cases  will make the Bronwyn Pullar case look like a bedtime story .

There will be no more just telling the minister that the decision was based on the legislation!!!, and lets face it the moment you are faced with attempting to decipher the act you tend to go glazed!!, and that is what ACC rely on when people are asking questions it is not easy for the standard "lay" person to get very far.
