RacingJimmy 48 Report post Posted August 7, 2017 Hi All, I have heard a lot of chat and read in different media locations about the Cambridge Jump Outs held last Monday and also trainers using Te Rapa for upcoming jump outs etc. Any idea if results/fields information is published anywhere? It would definitely be helpful to the punters. Any help much appreciated.
Huey 2,037 Report post Posted August 7, 2017 Supposed to be published here http://www.nzracing.co.nz/RaceInfo.aspx#bm-meeting-jumpouts You'd certainly think clubs of that size and magnitude would be leading the way in providing results and information for punters. .... 226 Report post Posted August 7, 2017 Te Rapa jump outs yesterday were more like gallops down the back straight, so no real results, by the time they got to finish line were only at half pace Some top quality spring horses from the Baker/Forsman and Pike yards had a day out. shaneMcAlister 1,425 Report post Posted August 7, 2017 I believe they have just starting jump outs at Waikato. The idea being that they will use the inside course. However yesterday with 27mms rain overnight they were on the course proper. Mark Nowell and Te Rapa racing provide a lot of information on Twitter re this. https://twitter.com/TeRapaRacing https://twitter.com/MarkANowell

Another cock-up. Jockeys have been advised to trial at 3/4 pace because the turns are too tight and potentially dangerous. shaneMcAlister 1,425 Report post Posted August 7, 2017 It wasn't a "cock-up" using the course proper. The track had 27mms rain over night so it was decided it was better for all participants to be on the course proper. Trainers were very happy with it. They all wanted 1000-1200m gallops. As the barrier was at the 1600m they all pulled up at the corner and cantered up the straight. With spring racing around the corner, more rain than Moses saw this winter and the leading training facility in Cambridge not staging any trials..... I think it is great the horses had someone to jump out. Trainers by all reports were very happy with it.

.... 226 Report post Posted August 8, 2017 There was very heavy rain the night before and some small amounts of water pooling on the inside track, as Shane mentioned earlier, very heavy rain so it was great that it went ahead on the course proper. The back straight is the best part of the course proper and that's were the jump outs took place. The inside track has been used for jump outs before but recently was decided it wasn't ready for official trials for whatever reason (Troy Harris and Vinny Colgan rode at them) Will the inside track ever be ready/suitable for official trials who would know, there is some conjecture around the tight turn as horses are finishing galloping , this may be an issue but I guess it's still a wait and see, the inside track has not been given clearance as a trials track yet. shaneMcAlister

.... 226 Report post Posted August 8, 2017 That coverage is awful, think trackside was responsible. David Greene has a guy that takes great video footage of his horses working all the time. Hopefully he was there and filming!
