are the accountants trying to destroy racing?

every few weeks it seems a cost cutting excercise takes place ensuring lower turnovers. The casual punter admittedly of an older age group used to have his fav. TAB  to place bets or when travelling could always find 1. Now many areas have no tab or 1 where there were several before. (most replaced into noisy drinking clubs with slow or no service. and sometimes members only! Now the trusty racebooks are being removed from all retail outlets and not printed till friday meaning many races not covered and only preaching to the converted to those who actually can find a tab. Now the teletext has proved too costly to maintain so bang thats gone too. . maybe they could work out a pay per view Trackside. (I shouldnt joke because the accountants are so stupid they may do it ) I suppose its too much too ask that boxseat goes all year. no cut it save money reduce turnover !!! If Michael is too tired after a few months talking to Purdons he could easily be replaced with alot of smarter people. (not hard excercise) we really need someone to stand up and say enough is enough or it will be a very small cake to divide up for all codes.:(

Teletext hasn't gone due to funds its gone because Sky TV no longer are putting out an SD signal its all HD and that does not support a teletext platform which is old dinosaur technology. TVNZ and Metservice abandoned their services long ago on Teletext

Unfortunately Mr. Legend the monopoly knows that any changes will be greeted with anger & outrage but after weathering the initial storm they know that people will just shrug their shoulders and accept what's offering and blissfully forget what they have lost otherwise they will anonymously fade into obscurity.     Once this process is complete, usually there is a round of wage rises followed by another similar hair brain scheme.

the teletext service may have been a dinosaur and was let go to a point where often dexter was driving in a dog race and other weird mixtures occured. It is however not impossible to think outside the box in such circumstances. hd could come into houses as it goes to every TAB /pubtab now it only needs a will. going back when the TAB was trying to grow the cake remember radio nz refused to give results on the hour or play live races as it interrupted other "cr...ppy" programmes . so the TAB purchased a controlling interest in radio pacific and created almost a racing station. maybe a strategic holding in Sky tv shares could do the same. they eventually sold out of Pacific at a major profit. Multi millions are paid out in salaries every year but little strategic thinking seems to trickel down except to force people who wish to bet to do it online which is ok but we are losing a whole generation of punters who are giving up.
