MisterEd 323 Report post Posted July 28, 2017 Drivers have no need to worry about any serious consequences from any wrong doing in races just make up any ridiculous excuse that seems plausible and you have nothing to worry about . Our weak stewards seem to accept any excuse going these days. Also the higher ranked the driver the more you can get away with. Dexter Dunn on Master Moonlight at Ashburton was one that springs to mind in recent weeks. MASTER MOONLITE - held up final bend. Driver D Dunn was questioned regarding the tactics he adopted passing the 1100 metres when electing not to improve his position outwards. Mr Dunn explained that he was reluctant to improve three wide without cover as he felt at this stage of the horse's career it was not best suited to racing wide and without cover over such a considerable distance. After considering his explanation, Stewards were satisfied the tactics adopted were not unreasonable and no further action was deemed necessary. A laughable excuse when the horse was improved three wide without cover and parked from the 1000m when it won its previous start in a faster mile rate. He would have copped it big time in Aussie! Drivers get away with this sort of carry on every week with no repercussions and it is not good enough! Grow some balls stewards! 2Piper 404 Report post Posted July 28, 2017 I"m not making an excuse for the drive; but after winning you usually go up a grade and perhaps a tougher field .It seems a wait and see approach is granted to find out how competitive the horse is in that grade. You don't think the horse had already posed for his passport photo at that stage?
