Setback for Race Fields Legislation

Recommended Posts

A bit harsh Fiery Falcon. DYBI probably hadn't read the latest and like most things in relation to change, regular communication with updates is important. Race Legislation changes can take time but as long as there is regular communication re progress , then everyone can be kept up to date.

Thanks Trmup - hadn't read it but wouldn't have changed my doubts - that the legislation will be delivered on time.  Dealing with govts and racing Act changes on time is a field fraught with delays.  The 2003 Racing Act was years in the making.

Wasn't wrong was I?  Had its first reading back in August - but not sighted since.  Other priorities.  And even when / if it passes it will be until 2019/2020 season before money "rolls" in.  And the CEO now telling the industry they are losing $1m a month with delays.  That'll be eating into the ability to bankroll the $9m stakes gift after this year.  Desperate times calls for desperate management - but after three years in pulling the pin next year would be about right, plus the Chair goes.

Every $1m a month they are losing has nothing to do with Racefields' legislation. At best that may be costing $1m a year though they can't or won't produce any solid evidence that it is even that much. They just keep spouting dreamed up figures and having 'conversations' about them.
