tim vince 985 Report post Posted May 26, 2017 I hope - tonight in Melbourne 14k kd muscles conon bridge- beamed in to france great betting. last night Alexandra park the monte had the people lining the stands watching it- looked about the same as the Auckland cup. great display. michelle wallis and Bernie take a bow- it created big interest among the galloping fraternity- alwyn tweedie scott lucock sally Gillespie chris dell and plenty of others- they loved it. 100 plus people who never come to the trots- some dined at the top of the park - had a drink and a bet - new blood- clubs have to think outside the square if they want to prosper. something different. tv 3 new tonight 6.40 a couple of minutes on it. thanks steven stewart for doing the story- who is going to be the first club to have a tote race- everything in place for it too happen. john legend 744 Report post Posted June 1, 2017 its hard enough now for pacers and trotters to ra ce in normal races let alone amateur drivers races, , now prospective monte races what next dual sulky races all full tote races . shock horror. scare the punters away in droves don't do it. let ellerslie/trentham/riccarton have monte not us !!!! I think the occasional Monte would be OK if they are restricted to registered standardbreds. If they are going to allow any show jumper, stock horse, poor-winded, sway-back running horse, pony club hack or farm brumbie to contest Montes then no way.
