Midget 4,489 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 Great effort by all concerned, especially Te Akau. He's won with about six lengths up the spout, ears pricked and looking distracted, almost bored, all the way up the straight. Too easy. Well done and thanks for carrying the Kiwi flag. pete 492 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 Great stuff - any horse that can crush a Derby field on good ground here and then travel over there and do that in that ground is something special. Irony is that he didn't actually cost that much. That's racing.

Trump 2,741 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 I backed both of them for good money, the multi will be a nice bonus. Also have Tulip going for $10,500 with those first two winners. I'm afraid of Chauffeur so will save on that. pete

WhoKnows 791 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 A stunning win. Jamie was lost for words in the post-race interview. Maybe the fact that the horse has come from nowhere a few months ago to win his last few like he has just amazed him, it has me. Probably only being a cheap purchase with no hype on him and no pressure from the owners has helped too, it's much nicer to cheer a horse home when it hasn't been lauded a superstar before it hits the track, being a gelding shows that they didn't have huge expectations on the horse from an early age either. Looks a ready-made favourite for the derby now and hard to see them stopping him. pete, porky, chevy86 and 1 other

Trump 2,741 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 I want a new Forum opened on Cafe, called "Horsestopper express". Thommo could list all his $1:50 specials so that we can put them in for 3rd or 4th in our multis!

chevy86 2,707 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 As for the "omen bet" today, it had to be this horse with Rory Hutchings being back in NZ.

Berri 2,131 Report post Posted March 19, 2017 Many thoughts to Iffraaj. jeepers 276 Report post Posted March 19, 2017 Agree with you Berri and their Showcasing isn't too bad either. Hats off to Haunui a stud that lets their stallions do the talking and they are still reasonably priced after proving themselves. No greed there!!
