tonkatime 323 Report post Posted February 24, 2017 Just a quick question on the race fields legislation, If I have a bet with an Australian bookmaker on say an NFL game the racing board thinks that they should receive a fee for that? Is that what John Allen is saying the legislation proposes? I also note he only mention Australian bookmakers, are UK bookmakers excluded? Guest 2Admin2 Report post Posted February 24, 2017 So they budgeted to lose 18% revenue from closing phone betting yet their operating costs have gone up? Unless phone betting was running at a significant loss the decision to drop it doesn't make sense.

Unless phone betting was running at a significant loss the decision to drop it doesn't make sense. Seems all they thought about was "operating". Phone betting operators should have been retrained as marketeers so that the phone operation turned into a friendly orientation exercise for new customers. That would mean education on all aspects of racing as well. Plenty sponsors found e.g. Te Akau talking up a syndicate. Thereafter any persistent betting users quietly discouraged. ivanthegreat
