Orange's only fame is that it's where most of Australian Kelvinator fridges are made and its miles from nowhere. No,it's near Dubbo and Wellington Ivan. But , yes unusual place to go and call races. He would imho be a great loss to our ranks. On of the best I have listened to over many years of following Harness. ivanthegreat
ivanthegreat 1,123 Report post Posted February 4, 2018 I don't disagree my point was how isolated this god forsaken place is. Have you been there cos I have and I flew there I'd hate to drive.
Jape 344 Report post Posted February 4, 2018 Listen in to Rangiora on Tuesday. From Orange to Rangiora - all in a (few) day's work for "our" intrepid caller. Btw, isn't Orange rather well known for being the birthplace of a certain Aussie icon? I am told it is 4 hours from Sydney - plane/helicopter/bike/car? Have driven from Adelaide to Sydney, up through the Barossa out across the Hay plains through Renmark and down into NSW. 18 hours straight, great fun. We digress

jeepers 276 Report post Posted February 4, 2018 Orange is a city of about 45000 people and is the gourmet capital of NSW.It is one place that reminds me of NZ as it has a cooler climate with snow in the winter. It has a variety of trees about the place and not covered in gum trees like other places. Properties are as expensive as in NZ and probably more so than most country places in Aust. It's about 250km from Sydney and not far from Oberon where even more snow falls in winter. It's also not far from Bathurst which has a much dryer climate. Orange is one place in Aust I wouldn't mind retiring in. Blue 1,095 Report post Posted February 5, 2018 Kiwis can feel at home there because there have been a bloody lot of sheep shorn at Cargo and Cudal by Kiwis in the past and who have settled there.
