Right first time 1,923 Report post Posted January 28, 2017 Top tipping by you in our personal match-up today, John. Very, very impressive. Well done indeed, sir. I can't be sad because I scored 6 winners myself and got a pretty good total, so not a bad day at the office. I need to nab those Best Bets though, ended up with zilch there, while at the same time John scored 2 Best Bet Quinellas !! I'll leave it to Captain Gordy to report on whether the Mighty Blues got up or not. I saw Brian scoring well in particular, so I'm kinda hopeful we got up. Hurricanes are always mighty tuff to overcome and will win many more than they lose, so it will be good if we've hit the ground running in Round 1. von Smallhaussen and Gordy55

Healthy aggregate and a bonus point for a team profit. Just unlucky to come up against a very strong Blues team. Will win the odd match if we can put up those numbers every week. Thanks for a great match Howie - I had a bit of luck on my side today. LastOf40, pete, Gordy55 and 1 other

Thanks for a great match Howie - I had a bit of luck on my side today. You're too modest, John ....pretty sure you were in front of me for almost the entire day. I was keeping in touch, but nothing more. Hanging on by a thread. Good luck for next Saturday. Must give a shout-out to my Mighty Blues Brothers Brian and Gordy who performed very well again today in Hesi & TC's Top Cat comp, and are both live chances in the Grand Final tomorrow. Good luck, fellas ! Gordy55

We're keeping you in mind though First Hesi, so true iv'e been in those Blues change rooms after a lose & it is the blues all right,,the only thing that gets a smile back in the camp was when Howie says in the showers 'who guna drop the soap first chaps' .....just wasn't my cup of Bell tea, So now on to stern Trump team talks...as I know he will get shit done thumbs up RFT as per above statement its a bit awkward now....but at least your dreaming of me, but im fully committed to Team Turbos now cheers moose. pete
Peter Jenkins 2,120 Report post Posted January 28, 2017 ROUND 1 Race 10 - Rosehill R8 1st - 5 Scarlet Rain W-$6.10 (another PJ mating) 2nd - 4 Badajoz Q-$8.80 scr: 6,10 subs: #5 then #7 1 THE BARBARIANS $685.40 0 points 4 THE CHIEFS $1724.20 4 (x 2 Joker play) = 8 points BBs for Barbarian MVP Steve (who also snagged the quinella) and team mate Ray in the last but their side proved no match for a rampant Chiefs outfit who rammed home their superiority with $628.80 off the last race with all 5 nailing the quinella plus best bets from Catalano, Casper and Ian to ensure a team profit bonus point. In fact they took 12 quinellas off the last 3 races ! Catalano was a standout Man of the Match with 7 winners and the team's Joker play has given them a rocket of a start in the comp. 0.00 Sir Castleton 254.20 Ian 337.00 Steve P 208.60 Sylvia 0.00 Sir Gallivant 285.00 Jack 131.00 Sasha 301.40 Casper 217.40 Ray 675.00 Catalano 3 THE BLUES $1808.40 3 points 2 THE HURRICANES $1658.00 1 point The 'Canes gave it a big shove in the last with all but Viceroy on the winner while Hesi and VS bagged BBs, but they had to concede victory to arch-rivals Auckland. The Blues celebrated victory with wins from Geoff (his 4th quinella), Gordy (a BB) and Blues MVP Brian who was one of 3 Auks to rack up 6 winners. Man of the Match was The Crucible who nailed 7 winners including 3 quinellas. Both sides earned a team profit bonus point. 322.80 Gordy 486.40 The Crucible 313.80 Howie 433.00 John 352.60 Pete 295.00 Hesi 465.00 Brian 353.80 Von Smallhausen 354.20 Geoff 89.80 Viceroy 3 THE KAURI KATS $1450.20 3 (x 2 Joker play) = 6 points 2 THE STAGS $1077.00 0 points The Stags ended the day with wins from their two star players - Man of the Match Isaac (7 winners including his 4th quinella in the last) and Alan (BB in the last) but they were overwhelmed by the Joker-playing Kauri Kats who went out with wins from Sarah and Pam (each with the quinella) plus a BB from Jen taking past the team profit mark in the process to add an extra couple of points to their final tally. Pam was the Kats' MVP while Sharne's loss was eclipsed by Lucyinrio's win at Trentham today, I'm sure. 366.80 Graeme 106.40 Kay 178.60 Sarah 0.00 Damion 272.20 Sharne 567.60 Isaac 209.00 Jen 306.00 Alan 423.60 Pam 97.00 FWTB 1 THE CRUSADERS $719.40 0 points 4 THE SHARKS $1126.20 3 points The 'Saders day ended with a nice BB quinella from their MVP Richie who in fact nailed the quinella in all 3 races he tipped the winner while the victorious Sharks scored through Cam, Jason and a sweet BB quinella for Man of the Match Mark. Jason reeled in Rob in the last but this was cancelled out by Richie nabbing Wrinkles. In a low-scoring affair neither team earned bonus points but the Sharks were just a little too sharp on the day. 31.00 Mr Gee 135.00 Cam 219.40 Richie 82.00 Wrinkles 160.00 Rob 185.60 Jason 167.00 Cubes 346.60 Rees 142.00 Tom 377.00 Mark 1 THE TURBOS $1229.00 0 points 4 THE FERDIES $1385.80 4 points The Turbos were beaten before the last bit finished strongly with BBs from Ted and Bryn plus MVP Rosina bagged her 7th winner of the day. The Ferdies final collects came from best bets wins via Heather and Bryan which was enough to get them past the team profit bonus mark adding a bonus point to that they earned for a 4-1 margin. Bryan was an impressive Man of the Match tipping 4 of the last 5 winners.
