eljay 1,711 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Win the toss (a rare event in itself) and on a pitch prepared for 5 days put the oppos in to bat. I suppose thats sensible - after all it will be a bit lively for one or two hours maximum and of course by batting last we have to face the spinners on a wearing wicket, - not one of our attributes over the years, I would have thought! Dumb!!! Very dumb!!! Now the little sub-continentals are going to post a score that may even ensure they get a first innings lead. For god sake NZ Cricket, please ensure everyone who is either made captain or a coach of the team gets a copy of Sir Donald Bradman's famous quote. For those who don't know he is arguably the best ever to hold the willow implement.
eljay 1,711 Report post Posted January 19, 2017 Repeat at Christchurch - when will they ever learn. Test matches are not 20 or 50 overs affairs. You bloody well bat first if you win the toss!!
Memphis2 1,078 Report post Posted March 1, 2017 How good is Guppy. One of the all time great innings. 180/280 is a great effort. Should be worth while at Eden Park globederby12
Uriah Heap 481 Report post Posted March 1, 2017 At the moment Guptill's reputation continues to be tarnished by his inability to score runs at Test level. I reckon once he's retired and ten years have gone by, we'll have forgotten all that and just have fond memories of his many great one day innings. He'll be up on that historic pedestal where he clearly belongs. Uriah Heap 481 Report post Posted March 16, 2017 Well done to Nicholl's the (relatively) new boy yesterday. He stood up when it mattered. I like that.
eljay 1,711 Report post Posted March 16, 2017 These days we really need two to stand up - not one.
Uriah Heap 481 Report post Posted March 20, 2017 We needed six or seven to stand up on the Saturday and no one did. Sunk without trace.

The bigger problem is that no one stands up often enough.
