Great to see Stevie Goulding win the Junior Drivers Championship last night at Addington.

A well deserved victory due to the effort that this young fellah has put in from several stables.

Last year he dead heated for the number of wins for juniors with Robbie Close when he looked like he had won it!

Stevie is a very likeable guy and always friendly and good with the media.

Now that he is out of his time with the junior ranks hopefully he won't be lost to the industry or driving ranks.

It is very difficult nowadays for the young in the industry to survive if you have not got well known parents who train and can give them drives.

The industry can not afford to lose people of Stevie Gouldings ability or enthusiasm as I believe our junior ranks have become decidedly thinner as the years have gone on.

All the best for your future Stevie Goulding.

Yip definitely a good talent is Stevie.Sounds like from what i read on HRNZ that he's getting into the Real Estate industry, but could also mix that up with some driving as well.Congrats on the win last night, and also for belting out a Ronan Keating song..Sam Ottley must get serenaded to sleep every night.

Apologies, Stevie Golding, spelt your surname incorrectly

He is already lost to the industry - he is going to sell real estate - because the industry / trainers didn't give him half a fair go !

Juniors cannot see a future in the sport as they add up the total hours a week  they spend at the stable to get the minimum basic wage and then get the third string stable drive.

Guys like Steve say what is the point in slogging your guts out to be kicked in the guts !

It has always been an extremely poorly paid job being a stablehand.

Believe the take home pay would be well under the minimum hourly rate if you take in to account all the hours that they actually do.

the serious trainers return for their time is probably not that great either.

You have to be extremely dedicated to remain in the industry after you are out of your Juniors time and financially not a great career.
