Leggy 4,005 Report post Posted October 3, 2015 slam dunk what a load of cobblers! Risque was proving a difficult ride for David. She lugged all the way up the straight and David could not go for her.She straightened up the last 50 metres and finished strongly but was never going to win. Even Lester would not have got her home. You should form an organization called Paranoid Anonymous! Can't see any sign of her lugging anywhere. Walshie certainly didn't report that. When questioned regarding the ride on RISQUE, rider D Walsh advised that after being trapped wide early he had been obliged to get back to obtain cover passing the 1000 metres. The filly had then been under pressure rounding the home bend when the field sprinted but when balanced and placed under full pressure in the final straight had run on very well. gubellini 3,923 Report post Posted October 3, 2015 Thanks Leggy. Today was the first time Risque had struck a good track. She has a high knee action and hits the ground pretty hard. As the Stewards Report infers she was only comfortable in the latter stages of the race. David was NOT to blame for her defeat in my opinion and the fact that the winner was her stablemate was purely coincidental and not sinister. napier, Insider and elbow
Gruff 2,778 Report post Posted October 3, 2015 (edited) Certainly not as bad as i expected and it did seem the horse wasnt co operating, the rail wasnt the best place to be at riccarton but the jurys out whether Walsh chose to go inside or was taken there...one things for sure with manners should go close next time. slam dunk 1,317 Report post Posted October 3, 2015 Ok perhaps after several looks not as bad as first appeared. The issues I have he could have easily come down the outside in the straight therefore maintaining momentum.. When he got on the rail after the horse eagerly reacted to the whip to clear the horses following Walsh then sat on the horse rather than winding it up. True he would have needed to angle one off at some stage nevertheless there was a mountain of room everywhere. Really the horse was full of running on the line. As far as the stablemate is concerned that may have been a reason for snagging back early rather than sit outside the leader. The Te Akau website fully expected Risque to beat the stablemate.
