dustydreamnz 493 Report post Posted September 16, 2013 Continue to line up dogs that have lost their form and have had a long campaign? modest mouse 469 Report post Posted September 16, 2013 Or, the other ones that are waiting on the sideline that through no fault of their own end up with an 8, can't get a start.
rouseabout 59 Report post Posted September 16, 2013 Dusty this never happened when we had to pay $27.00 for each dog's nomination, not that we would ever want to see that situation again. DC9 203 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 continue to line up dogs that have lost their form and have had a long campaign? i'm not a trainer and i don't pretend to know better than most trainers but this has always puzzled me. because they can downgrade. in saying that, no dog should go from c5 right back to c1. howrude 108 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 something happening in the cd on a regular basis is trainers nominating so many dogs for certain races, getting in fields then scratching on the day leaving the reserves who have been waiting for a start for some time, to continue to do so... bunyarra 185 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 i think you're on to something as you see many trainers doing that to down grade dogs. the whole selection process is a joke in some regions as it doesn't reward consistency. i have a bitch who was unplaced at her last start however prior to that either won or was placed at fourteen consecutive starts in c5 but hasn't been able to secure a draw in a c5 for the past 6 meetings at auckland. there needs to be one national policy. dustydreamnz and Greyhoundrunner
alltheway!!! 640 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 it is tough up in auckland though. some top class sprinters running around in the moment
modest mouse 469 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 i have the same problem with not getting a start for my c5 bitch. we need a national policy dustydreamnz
clarkie 165 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 i have the same problem with not getting a start for my c5 bitch. we need a national policy I think even with a National Policy there will always be related problems.Racing was at its best when clubs were granted more than the 12 races so maybe this needs to be looked into by the Greyhound Association. Funding for these extra races should not be used as an excuse as there is plenty coming in at present.. modest mouse
DC9 203 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Our dog Percentage Man (named after one of his owner's with the same name because of his betting habits) has been retired this week, while still graded c4. Could have kept going and going til he got right down in the grades, but what's the point when they are telling you they are past their best? Mind you, the way things are he wasn't getting starts anyway. I agree clarkie, it is only harder now there are never 14 or more races per meeting, less classes get catered for at any one meeting. modest mouse

dustydreamnz 493 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 There was 16 races every Wednesday at Wangas for a while. Was it stopped because they cleared the backlog of dogs in the CD or for another reason?

You keep paying that every week even if they are not racing.
