  1. PGGWrightsons need to pull their fingers out. Its just money for jam for them. No advertising which is terrible with what they charge. APG sales are looking so much more professional than NZ now. A small gesture but appreciated for sure is all sale horses are given a very nice halter to travel home in. A lot of the small breeders are not GST registered so like Aussie not GST reg no GST on the sale of the horse. Whoops sorry. PGG give you a free pen....and what pisses me off the most..they ALWAYS give the better bred yearlings longer in the ring. New blood is required for our auctioneers and new blood is required in HRNZ...These people are all dictating the terms. They would be up shits creek without a paddle if there were no horses to sell or race which the way Harness Racing is going in NZ could be sooner than we all think...
  2. Dixon doesn't have the quality or quantity of horses he had when training from Hoggards property. When he left Hoggards he also left half his stable team as well because Hoggard owned half of them. Leaving Hoggards and training out of the Pukekohe track would be like leaving the Hilton Hotel and staying at the Budget Motel. Never known him to use drugs so I Believe that comment was unjustified. If you lose a big owner you can lose half your income as quick as that. Like many perhaps he is struggling too.
  3. but a well known trainer recently told me owners should pay up and shut up. love to know what trainer it was..!!!!! If it wasn't for the owners there wouldn't be any trainers.
  4. Personally I don't know why they call him The Wizard. This is only my opinion but he would be one of the last drivers I would ever put on a horse
  5. Submissions sought... North Island Breeders' Association Proposed Broodmare Incentive Scheme Submissions sought. This paper outlines a proposal for a breeding initiative based on the Western Australian EPONA Mares Credit Scheme. The beneficiaries of the scheme will be the mare owners, should they choose to breed from the mare once retired. New Zealand Standardbred Breeders Association are seeking feedback from industry stakeholders on this proposal, all submissions welcome in writing by emailing kiely@harnessracing.co.nz or posting to PO Box 8270, Riccarton, Christchurch, 8440 by 31st July 2015. Assumptions have been made based on three years analysis of foal crop data from 2002, 2003, 2004. Assumption 1: 65% of winning mares go to stud Proposal Establish a fund for payment of stallion service fees on a LFG basis to owners whose mares have accumulated redeemable credits from racetrack wins in New Zealand. Estimated cost of scheme is $250,000 per annum based on 65% of winning fillies and mares going to stud. Conditions: Applicable to fillies and mares aged three-year-old or older, who win any totalisator race in New Zealand; 10% of winning stake to a maximum of $500 each win; Total credits to be capped at $4000 per mare; A maximum of 50% of the credit is available in the first breeding season and the balance in a subsequent season; The credit is attached to the mare; it is not transferable; it does not survive the death of the mare or her becoming unable to conceive, and cannot be converted into cash; The credits are not transferable in the event of death or export of the mare prior to foaling; No payment from the Fund is required until the mare is served and tested positive 42 days. Assumed Benefits: Relatively low cost initiative; Send a signal to the industry that owners of mares are an integral part of the industry; Will provide an easier entry into breeding for mare owners; Utilisation of mares increase – raced more often and for longer to accumulate maximum credits; Mares more likely to stay in New Zealand to redeem credits; Would appeal to smaller and potential breeders who may not otherwise breed their mare; Arrest decline in breeding numbers; Improve prices for fillies at weanling and yearling sales as buyers look to reinvest in potential broodmares. Potential Funding Sources: 2% levy on Stallion service fees, payable by stud (potential funding of $300,000 per annum) Reinstate DNA fees (potential funding of $220,000 per annum) HRNZ distribution account Racing Board grant (unknown and previously unsupported at NZRB level) Our mailing address is: New Zealand Standardbred Breeders' Association PO Box 8270 Riccarton Christchurch, Can 8440 New Zealand
  6. Great to see Fly Like An Eagle back in the winners circle. His form had dropped away for some time. But I guess he is back with the best trainer now. Good to see.
  7. No didn't make myself very clear.. As I mentioned wasn't watching the races at the time just heard the interview and it caught my attention when I heard Auckland Trotting Club as I had recently been there with friends. My opinion TTL is just that. Remember, a person who loves food is not always a great cook..... Food for thought.
  8. Had the Racing channel on but not watching at the time. Heard Craig the Whale interviewing David Branch, Assistant Marketing Manager of Auckland Trotting Club I think Craig said he was. Thought the interview was very lame. Thought, that sounds like a kid doing the talking, It's great having young blood in these areas, but they have to know what they are talking about and making a difference. Craig was doing most of the talking and basically putting the answers in David's mouth, David's answer to everything was "Absolutely" and didn't come across as he knew much at all. Marketing is the key to all and if not done properly can be a disaster. Alex Park has Paint peeling from the main stand is terrible and has been like this for a long time. There was a broken glass panel that stayed broken for at least 4 months. Get a makeover, throw in some decent colours and be proud of the excellent facilities you have and for god sake Market the place like its the best...... PS, get rid of the tarseal along the straight of the track, build it up, put it back into lawn and have table and chairs along here and it would make for a perfect place to sit trackside and have a couple of drinks/meals with friends,. Just an idea...
  9. Being invited...who pays for the horse to fly over to NZ.???? Or does an invitation include flights etc paid for by HRNZ.. Once again, you have to wonder who the hell makes these decisions... No wonder the harness industry in NZ is struggling. It was probably the same idiots that made the decision that combined the 4 & 5 year olds for one year. It is really just the icing on the cake for me, I have lost all interest in racing here in NZ, there is too much bullshit and too much of 'WHO YOU ARE'...
  10. What a load of crap, she is a bloody cheat hope she gets her license taken off her. So over it.
  11. Seems young Simon Lawson has a bit of a temper too. Great to see the Stipes doing their job at the Franklin Meeting on Friday night.
  12. Yes had the same thought. The Whale was at the Park yesterday and made a right mess of things.....I am sure if he listenend and watched the replays he will realise he is a shocker!!!
  13. Didn't say she was caught red handed using the drugs on a horse....
  14. Acting under the provisions of AHRR 183A, KARLOO MICK will not be permitted to be nominated or compete in any race until the outcome of the inquiry is finalised. Shouldn't NZ adopt the same rule....ie Nicky Chilcott, she was caught red handed with performance enhancing drugs and yet she is still allowed to train and drive. Bloody joke. If you are caught red handed your bloody guilty. It is NOT a misunderstanding, how dumb does she think we all are, obviously not as stupid as she is....
  15. Why didn't they just leave things as they were. The best of each age group. Now they are thinking it wasn't such a brilliant idea after all combining the 4 & 5 y/o and are having consolation races for horses 13th - 24th. If they wanted to get more 5 y/o horses racing why not just have a completely new Jewels race for their age group only at a lesser stake.... Obviously, the lights were on, but no one was home when they decided that was a good idea....I know of many trainers who think it was a silly move combining 4 & 5 y/o for the Jewels. Trying to keep older horses racing here and not being sold over seas has actually backfired. As the bottom 6 or so of 4 y/o horses won't get into the Jewels because their place has been taken by 5 y/o horses. If I was an owner of these horses I would either put to stud if a mare or look at racing/selling overseas....
