  1. J-Mac is booked to ride him in the TJ.
  2. We would slow it down if our Saturday "standard" races were worth A$170k (NZ$ equivalent) and the Group and Listed races worth even more. Then more horses would stay here and NZ trainers would (probably) buy the better horses at Karaka and the like knowing that they're racing for the same amount as on offer in Australia. And keeping the better horses in NZ should mean the feast for one or two horses should increase to heaps more horses each season (in theory). Yes I know my answer is really stupid because races worth that much here aren't going to happen.... so sorry I don't really have an answer..
  3. Hard to turn down a 7 figure sum irrespective of the stakes increases here.
  4. The words from Jamie Kah.. 16th – HAYASUGI (Jamie Kah) Lucky we got around in the end. She nearly fell over out of the gates and nearly fell over again. A non event today. Just watched the replay from the link above... you should watch it too... Drawn 1 from the outside. More like fell off out the gates, and then about 100m after that as she was angling across towards the rail she just kept on going at that angle and hit the running rail and nearly fell off again.
  5. Have to feel sorry for Mr Tiz today.. Got a total of $2,420 and scored just 1 point courtesy of breaking the $2,400 mark. Winner69 with $1,441 for the day would normally be way enough to earn a point... but still came up short $771 against Sayer.
  6. Take away my results for the day and it would have been even better.. I was awful again today. Individually I finished 47th out of 48, and did manage to get six 4th placings in total for the day. My BB races. got a 4th in both of them. Had a late Scratching so it went onto the single pick and that ran... 4th.
  7. 1. Tauranga R7: 4, 6 BB 2. Riccarton R8: 2, 10 3. Rosehill R2: 4, 11 4. Rosehill R3: 7, 11 5. Rosehill R4: 3, 5 6. Rosehill R6: 2, 4 7. Rosehill R7: 3 8. Rosehill R8: 1, 13 9. Rosehill R9: 1, 11 10. The Valley R4: 5, 10 BB 11. The Valley R7: 4, 8 12. The Valley R9: 6, 10 Tough day today... so many good chances but as they saying goes "you can't pick them all": Just hoping I get a few and improve on the previous week's efforts. Good :Luck everyone.. and thanks John and Scooby.
  8. Just curious... did anyone read or hear whether Stephen Marsh was thinking about taking Velocious over for it... and if so the reasons why he didn't go.? She's a very good filly but the trip and run against that field might have destroyed her... my opinion only.
  9. BREAKING NEWS: Craig Wiliams confirmed as the rider of Mr Brightside in the Australian Cup. Also, didnt realise that "he had ridden Mr Brightside in 28 of his 32 starts, posting 14 wins, including five at Group 1 level and three in Group 2 company"
  10. Agree that every race is different, and for me the barrier draw is just one factor in the equation, it also depends on the horse and its normal racing pattern, the course, the horse's form going left-handed vs right-handed and the track conditions on the day. e.g., connections would "normally" hate drawing 18 at Rosehill in the Golden Slipper, but would the same connections hate drawing 18 in the 3yo Coolmore down the straight-six at Flemington... So the barrier draw... it all depends.
  11. From RaceNet: J-Mac wants inside draw for Switzerland in Golden Slipper Just saying...
  12. 1. Trentham R5: 5, 10 2. Trentham R6: 6, 15 3. Trentham R7: 2, 4 4. Trentham R8: 5, 12 BB 5. Caulfield R8: 1, 9 6. Caulfield R9: 3, 12 7. Rosehill R3: 3, 4 8. Rosehill R4: 2, 4 9. Rosehill R6: 5, 7 10. Rosehill R7: 5, 6 11. Rosehill R8: 11, 17 BB 12. Rosehill R9: 3, 12 Hope Veandercross can turn it around today, but have a few fears.. Some big fields and plenty of room for upsets which is what Mr Gee and Dogzstar (team Mr Tiz) look for and we're also up against Winner who is near the top of the table... Here's hoping anyway. Good Luck everyone and thanks John and Leigh..
  13. Thought back to the Aotearoa Classic where Wessex bowled along in front and Desert Lighting tracked her with a bit of a gap to the rest, could easily see a similar thing happening with Desert Lighting tracking Pride of Jenni and be in it on the turn. But whether he's good enough to hold out the likes of Mr Brightside and others finishing strongly is the question.
  14. Flew back from Auckland on Friday afternoon and as quite often the case you circle over Hastings and can clearly see the track.. What I saw on Friday was just dirt instead of grass... so something definitely happening already.
  15. Good the he can control the irrigation from his phone. So he turns it on when he leaves for the day but lives out in the wop wop's with no cellphone coverage and can't turn it off... ha ha.!!
