  1. We would all like them to be saved after racing but we must also be realistic. It is just not possible to save them all. We just do our best.
  2. The track manager at Ascot Park is bloody hopeless. The track would have been fine if he hadn't watered it in the frost. It's not the first time - will he ever learn?
  3. Just trying to identify the rogues in the sport who need to be somewhere else - the RIU do not seem to worry about it.
  4. Anyone see a fight the other day at a CD meeting? Some gossip doing the rounds.
  5. Old Gummy Trev ( 67 ) called Sader Nation ( Friday R8 ) most of the race and afterwards - luckily I had pictures otherwise would not have known what was what. He's passed it. Time to move on - Andy or Darryl or Jason Teaz are all good for me. Much better than Wilkes, Early or Rozo.
  6. Yes quite right. I know my dogs eat better that I do!
  7. The buyer is an understanding bloke. I understand a charity is still being sought - I've suggested St Johns.
  8. One of my dogs "S" started 12 times from 7 from 36 starts.
  9. Some good thoughts. However we need to test the loop-lure which keeps the dogs out in the middle of the track. Works well at Wanganui at present, at Gawler SA and GRV are rolling it out at every track in their State. I am sure we will notice a huge difference in the number of crashes and injuries. My dogs have had plenty! Not sure why GRNZ are being so slow about getting a couple of the lures for each track here.
  10. I haven't read so much garbage for years. What's the difference between breeding calves, foals, lambs, fawns, piglets when we all know they are to be slaughtered and breeding dogs? Anyone who has been farming will know that all livestock have degrees of intelligence, all can be great mates, all feel pain. We certainly do not need more regulations regarding what and when we breed. I have never come across any trainers using live-baiting - just fishermen. Talk about hypocrisy! There needs to be some honesty from the thoroughbred and standardbred codes - truckloads of slow horses go into the works everyday without a murmur from the mad greenies. As for the stupid comments re JT McInerney - the whole business would have folded if he had not kept the numbers up for the South Island meetings. He does not breed from many bitches - he may have several clients who breed many bitches - but he does not.
  11. One point no one mentioned was that if a trainer has 2 dogs in the race, he has double the chance of drawing the ace. I know its obvious. But going by some of the comments some contributors may have missed it.
  12. Because some dogs are strapped to negate injuries doesn't mean all strapped dogs are carrying injuries. To my knowledge most use strapping to prevent injuries. Remember that when a good chaser leaves the box, he's not thinking about anything but trying to catch the lure.
