I have skimmed over the Messara report.
Mr, Messara suggests selling Avondale which he estimates would release maybe $200m to the industry.
I was told some years ago by Ron Murphy that the clever Dallies had changed the constitution of the club to ensure that if the club closed the proceeds of a sale would go to West Auckland sports clubs.
Does anyone know if this is correct?
I have just received this seasons Stallion Register and notice that there are no listings for Westbury Stud.
Why? I assume they are still operating but I have been overseas for some months so I am out of touch.
When I retired I advertised mine to give away on Race Café. I had 2 replies and posted some to Christchurch and delivered the others to a young lady in Taupo. Neither of these people even offered to pay the postage!
My opinion is they have no monetary value.
What would be wring with the trainer declaring that "A" is a pacemaker for "B" and the two horses are bracketed on the tote? Similar to what was done years ago with multiple horses in the same ownership and racing in the same race.
I have just returned from the U.K. and watched a few races on T.V. while I was there.
I noticed that water was available to the winner while the horse was parading at the presentation. Either a bucket or trough was readily at hand.
Why isn't this done in New Zealand?
I have just been reading the Te Akau website and an article reminded me of a very funny story printed in Race Cafe some time ago . The subject was " A day in the life of David Ellis" ( or similar).
Does anyone have this article on file so it could be posted and able to be read again?
