  4. Sorry you are wrong re Mr Myers, it is a known fact that he sells all his weanlings (good or bad) at this sale and does not take anything through to the yearling sales. There was a good article written about this a couple of years back. Yes some of the other vendors/breeders who do not want to take yearlings to Book 3 put their lower quality weanlings through this sale, and I agree with you that this does not mean there is not something worth a taking a chance on. Sally McKay picked up a gem a couple of years ago!

  5. I understand the horses were given a dose of Uric Acid supplements, which were supposed to be for Tony's gout, but somehow were put in the horses' breakfast by mistake.

  6. Yes and no. That was a brilliant win and there is no denying that. Would Bigtime Paddy have won, with a better beginning? We will never know. I am one of Paddy's greatest fans but I do not think it would have beaten Krusty in that race. And, let's face it. Krusty took luck out of the race by making that sensational beginning. Congratulations to the entire team and a special word of praise for Matt Roberts who spoke so well in the post-race interview.

  7. The Cubemeister should say some words : Dark Horses gave a great sight all comp and is a team stacked full of talent....check Rubiks certainly got their groove going as the race progressed and let down nicely in the straight to greet the judge....check Mrs Cubes always regarded the Rubiks as a team that what do well in a Knock Out format.....check El Capitano ain't gonna single out any team-mate...but maybe just 4....Geoff has won how many comps now (for multiple teams) ? , The Klopmeister solid as a rock , Hesi wise beyond even his advanced years , and Roland (should that read legend ?) picking 94-1 shots and BBing 50-1 shots......great team.....check Cubity always believed....check PJ .....awesome organiser of awesome comps....check

  8. Well done to the Rubiks on their success - supreme champions in the PJ Summer-Autumn Super Comp. The Rubiks - dropped back beyond midfield early in the Comp, started a run, under a ride at the 500m, kept coming, too strong in the closing stages. Mrs Lastof40 has reported that her boy came dashing home full of the joys of life after the big win, got his feet through the doorway, but the head got stuck ! I guess his people will be talking to the Mighty Blues people about a bigger retainer now needing to be paid for his services, after this latest success. Well done, Geoff, and team-mates. Thanks for a mighty comp, PJ, one of your best ever. I enjoyed it very much, as I'm sure is the case with all participants. Very much appreciated.

  9. I totally disagree with you re Wastage but each to their own. Its easy to go after the AS team but their results speak for themselves. They obviously cull but usually only to save their owners further expense. That comes from their owners not me.

  12. Having actually taken the time to speak with those in charge of the restructuring, the Levin Kennels will be totally revamped. Capacity will be increased and the quality of the facilities will be upgraded. A number of issues were identified and the new protocols will increase the number of positive outcomes. The plan has been months in the making and is the result of consultation with the groups that actually matter including taking on board member concerns. The GPL has long been a source of deliberately misleading information. Their latest posting on Facebook regarding the positive is no exception. When you look at the actual figures the positive while potentially damaging is the only positive this season. 1 from approximately 2500 swabs taken does not support their claims of endemic. The GPL has been in existence for approx. 5 years, in that time they have only managed to gain roughly 2500 Facebook followers, actual members far, far less. A large proportion of those followers are AR activists who reside in other countries. It is not hard to fathom what form any impending attack will take. The GPL is predictable at best. Their leader will get the notoriety he craves for a short period of time and then will disappear back into the darkness trolling the internet. A couple of MP's will use this situation to gain political mileage, but in doing so they will effectively be criticising the government they are in coalition with, that very rarely affects change.

  13. You two really are losers aren't you? You have done nothing in this industry and try to bring down hard working, successful people because of this. If you spent as much time training your hounds as you do on here dogging successful participants, you might actually have achieved something.

Have another look at the replays prior to the 100m, forget about what happens in the last 100m re whip use, if they are in contention they can use at their discretion. Maia was lucky not to get charged, her whip use fell outside the rule while jonathan's whip use was within.

Whatever happened to just good old fashioned.....Grass, Oats and Exercise? My grandfather was anti needles or any substance being administered by vets or otherwise!..... Although that was probably as much to do with the "bills" received by them after any medical treatments. Old School !

  16. Judging by the table presented after all the expenses Mr Myers most likely still lost money, but that is not the point.Never mind the pedigree, if you go and look at all his animals, and the same for Waikato Stud, you will notice that they all have a reason for being there. These are mostly horses that will not make it into the K1 or K2 sale. So they quit them and put time and effort into the good ones. That is not to say that one can not pick up a bargain. I think the best buy of the entire sale was Sir P buying back his own broodmare for $150K. Will end up being a bargain.

Love your comments as regards the ATC but you are a bit unfair on Addington. They have also developed their land and developed alternative revenue streams as have the ATC. But their land is simply not worth as much & the ChCh economy is more flat as regards rental demand etc. ATC simply have more advantages being in the biggest population base. Agree with your comments as regards acceptance fees but ATC now doing the same for their group 1 races. They both need to stop this stupidity. . I think South will still remain centre of harness racing for some time yet as it has a larger base of people involved in the sport.

  21. Thank you, that race blew me away the time she ran was quicker early and last section than her heat was won in, how she won it none of the other dogs would have beaten her on the night, time will tell but to do this on her 11th start is sensational. The training feat of Matty is nothing short of champion status, he is a prolific winning trainer of many dogs and of 3 of mine who we all know. Like Bobby said on his Facebook there’s a new Kid in Town Long live Queen Krusty cheers Warren Bronson

Heres some more good news for you BB and remember facts will beat envy every time. Elle Mac brought up 100 wins this domestic season for team All Stars The stable has topped 100 wins every year since 2009 a phenomenal achievement considering its strike rate of winners to starters, well ahead of any other large stable year after year.

Kiwibuild is turning into a disaster for the government that no amount of spin will get them out of their promises. by CS No amount of spin is going to get the government out of their promises on Kiwibuild, which are collapsing under the weight of Phil Twyford’s hubris: Quote: I think Phil Twyford is going to get a call from Darryl Kerrigan shortly to tell him to get his hand off it and to stop dreamin’. Quote: Liar, liar, shiny pants on fire. The policy was for the government to build new houses, on top of those already being built by the private sector. Quote: Twyford’s own hubris is going to give more than him a headache. If the private sector is now getting a subsidy to build the homes they won’t be building homes for private sale. The government, it seems, are intent on buying the houses for more than they are worth, creating a subsidy to the builder. Then, selling them for less than they are worth giving a double whammy to the poor taxpayer. If this is the case he won’t have any money left from his $2 billion slush fund due to being tucked on both sides of the house build. Twyford is getting close to having to ride a unicycle and wear clown shoes, clown pants and clown make-up.

You really are a sad case BB. Constantly bagging the All Stars team will get you no where either here or anywhere else that has any sense of credibility. I notice your earlier comments about me and can only suggrest you try and deal in facts like i do. The NZRB complain about the number of punters spending less with them, this is a major reason why, the watering down of the product. In Hong Kong for instance, the number of betters spending more has risen, where they race a maximum of twice a week, and all information on the horse including treatments and stewards reports are freely available for every animal. Bettors spend more when you give them all the information and they bet with confidence. As you say Red Rum, less is more.

Well you can look at it two ways - demoralizing or a standard for other to try to emulate. In all sport and life it is the same, whether it is the All Blacks, Winx, Waller, Dunn etc others are trying their best to lift their game - e.g. Blair Orange

Having asked a few questions of the top boys tonight I have to say there is never a better time to have a horse racing at the park.in the next year or 2 we are going to be racing for big money and the time to get in is now. August march whatever there is no doubt in my mind stake money will be the envy of everyone.the challenge is to increase the numbers to get better turnover and get a regular fan base .great money is only a part of it getting people to the track now that ain't going to be easy.I've seen great money in the states with deserted courses.

  41. I know the sale wasn't particularly brilliant for vendors , but I've been going to this sale for a number of years and it appears to be thinning out in stock numbers and possibly has better quality than in previous years. On the upside if you wanted to get a horse there was good opportunity to do so and let's face it a sale like this offers a lot of horses the opportunity to become racehorses rather than sit in a paddock or the alternative for the rest of their lives, and probably provides a lot of the bottom of the market an opportunity to restock.
