  8. And so it comes to this... the final roll of the dice. Unfortunately, of all weeks, I've had to pick pretty much blind. It's a method which went very badly a few weeks back, so advantage to Cubes. Now that I've deftly taken control of underdog status, here's some picks... R1 - 1,9 R2 - 1,6 R3 - 3,5 R4 - 2,7 BB R5 - 6,11 R6 - 2,5 R7 - 8,12 R8 - 1,3 R9 - 1,12 BB R10 - 3,13 Good luck to Cubes, thanks for administering the competition PJ, and c'mon the Dark Horses!

Such an amazing NZ publication.. Trainers/ Jockeys/ Sires / indexes. Mathew Francis as, the Informant's publisher wrote today the price would increase.to $8.50. 23. It will happen straight away if Pam Schofield is granted a license, she also lives 110km away! A lot of questions will be asked by applicants that haven’t been granted licenses due to following correct processes if she can get one!!! Come on NZGRA, give this industry some credibility!

  25. Here at Race Café we totally understand the general feeling in relation to your Super Comps Peter . The support from your Super Comps in the past with us has always been greatly appreciated. We acknowledge that it is an integral party part of everything which has made this site and the comps the success that they are today. In fact the two have grown exponentially over the past years. The competition has created fun and immense enjoyment for all those involved. We look forward to this relationship continuing to go from strength to strength in the future with our strong membership under-pinning its success and your continued enjoyment from it.

  34. That is almost certainly correct La Zip. It is also one reason we have more expensive building costs (only two major players), and more expensive food (again, only two major players). There are advantages to living in a beautiful country with a low population, but economies of scale isn't one of them!

  36. ....

    NZB May Sale today

No doubt it has a part to play, but buyers would not be buying fillies that were 'no good' for that kind of money, they harbour serious racing ambitions and rightfully so. They have massive residual value but are being brought to be racehorses first and foremost and have every chance to be competitive in Group races at 1600m and further especially within their age group. There is no doubt the colts have performed better than the fillies (not disputing that, facts don't lie) but to say they are no good is very harsh when they are running at 9.7% stakes performers to runners. He just needs to get some photos on the wall instead of placings with the good Oaks/Group 3yo fillies he is producing (Milsean, Harlow Gold, Imperial Lass etc)

  41. Blue

    Good on Mark Purdon

I see Rogy as a galloping trainer who got into harness for a while, bought some expensive ones too and had some success but he's rather the exception than the rule. Big Bar had a horse or two a year or two ago but I don't think he ever had a winner. Todd hasn't done badly. Depends how far Mark P wants to take this and, as he stays with Rogy when in the north maybe it's tit for tat there. He does have a close relationship with Jim Gibbs but I really wouldn't like to see it come to Ruakaka. Or perhaps I should say, there are plenty of places I'd send a horse before trucking it north. No problem with a bit of variety though not many can do both well.

  43. Wishing the very best of luck to 'The Rubiks' and 'The Dark Horses' in the Grand Final this Saturday. Given that 'The Rubiks' got up to beat my team last Saturday, and 'The Dark Horses' didn't get close, I'm picking 'The Rubiks' to take out the Championship Title. Given that my bro Geoff is a vital cog in 'The Rubiks' machine, I'm picking 'The Rubiks' to take out the Championship Title. If anyone in the Final is struggling to find something to pick in any race - - - Howie's tip is take number '6' - - - you'll get a nice return. And number '8' will win at least one race, maybe more. All the best, Finalists.

  47. We do know all the facts Lindsay, unfortunately it has been extremely bad press for all the rule abiding people within the industry. Greyhound racing is in a very fragile position due to very few people who have let the rest down, the sooner these people are weeded out the better. Denis knew the risk he was taking when he took a trainers licence out in his own name, for his son to continue to train under because his son had had his revoked, this is fraudulent and deceptive - unfortunately the RIU dropped the ball not straightening this out earlier, if they had the whole industry wouldn’t be in front of the firing squad yet again.

  50. I didn't realise so many of you Harness/Racing guys cared about the Nitball ! It's always the coaches fault. Sacking coaches hasn't helped the Auckland Blues ! Aussie won't be too happy either re their result . It was obvious this coach was wrong from the outset ,just like it was with NZ Cricket coach Mike Hesson ...maybe he's been lucky with the cattle he has !
