It was great to be on course to see him win his 1000th, and see the presentation made to him by Noel Harris, an hour or so later in front of his jockey friends and those in attendance. Comment was made "the next 1000 will be harder"!!! Cheers. Robert.4 points

Cubity has a routine..... Lose money , go to ATM , go to Woolston TAB to deposit said dollaros , lose money.... The Cubemeister reckons Mrs Cubes never reads our postingness on this site , so our personal confessions here about moneyness never get read by the boss , so our poor puntingness go undetected.... Ashburton yesterday , somewhere up North today .....same old same old ....dollars down the drain.... But gloriousness is surely just around the corner... Following some restauranteurs' thoroughbred , backing all South Island runners and jockeys tomorrow , the Warriors on a winning streak...all signs point to the year of the dog being the turn around year for the Cubinator... Or not...3 points

Steve has an affinity with the young ones that he identifies early on. Winning combo when Bosson is involved. Steve's, God son from Hell !! TE AKAU needs Steve !! Rev2 points -

Today I'm going with these to keep the Ad Augusta scoreline ticking over merrily :- R1 = 6x7 Classic Touch/Hinerangi R2 = 2x8 Felaar / Gorbachev R3 = 2x7 Montoya Star / Sleek Secret R4 = 1x7 Scott Base / Astor Best Bet R5 = 1x5 Written By / Spin R6 = 1x2 Krone / Khulaasa R7 = 2x5 Savvy Coup / Gold Spice R8 = 1x2 Holy Snow / Muraaqeb R9 = 2x15 Silent Sedition / Bring Me Roses R10= 2x3 Tom Melbourne / Comin' Through Best Bet I've mulled over at length whether to play our second Joker today, and in the end I've decided to delay until another play against the Dark Horses at a later date. I ain't learnt me lesson, eh Rosina ! The memory though of 2 Dark Horses in PJ's 'Bottom 5' Wall of Infamy last Saturday lingers large in my mind. If only the other 3 Dark Horses hadn't done enough to carry the day. Won't happen next time. Good luck to my 'Ad Augusta' team-mates today, and Pete and the Roylesses, you've had a lucky reprieve today. If only I'd been braver. Thanks, PJ, and have a very enjoyable day's racing everyone.2 points -

Whoa massive over-reaction! I said no disrespect to those who've put up their hard earned - did you miss that? Simply observing that if you are good enough to pick 5 from 5 you deserve a big reward so go out and bet a dollar. I've run competitions on the tipping forum and put up my own hard earned, so don't need your ire. Cheers2 points

I struggle with $18m down the gurgler on Typhoon and, if the numbers being bandied around by Brian de Lore are correct, another $30m up in front costs to get this package up and running. Then, once it goes live, an annual license fee to Paddy Power of $17m or so. It's flawed, however the NZRB is pregnant with the deal. All of this has nothing to do with NZTR although realistically it does. Because, since the Racing Act came to be, NZTR, HRNZ, GRNZ and the 4 wise independent directors, if you include the Chair, have sat there and nodded their heads as know it all experts in this sphere of fully understanding what it takes to deliver NZ's betting software package. The Board not once but twice has approved these moves. Back in 2008 Graeme Nahkes was tasked with performing the very first 5 yearly "Effectiveness and Efficiency Audit" of the NZRB being a statutory requirement of the 2003 Racing Act. Salient words he wrote back then...."to the degree to which the NZRB remains a ‘statutory monopoly’ it will continue to be the subject of suspicion that it is bureaucratic, well resourced and overly ‘leisurely’ in its approach to its affairs. The experience of other organisations that have undergone a transition process like this organisation , suggests that further significant performance improvement should be expected" His report was significantly watered down and for his services he was sacked with Michael Stiassny appointing KPMG to do the next audit in 2013. Published in 2014, it was a patsy report. Quite simply from the NZRB's position of having over $60m available funds in reserves and then receiving an annual windfall in Duty relief of $35m+ to then get to a current day position of being in debt, beggars belief. Perhaps some out there may be aware of who is putting the current "Effectiveness and Efficiency Audit" together? Many of those who've watched this debacle unfold over the past 15 years could write the contents for this edition. In 1982 a guy walked into the Whanganui Computer Centre and, before blowing himself up, graffitied the words "We have maintained a silence closely resembling stupidity" hmmm....2 points

Might put a case to the boys to play our Joker this Saturday - against The Royle Family. Making it back-to-back Joker plays for the Double AAs if we go ahead. Will be risky, 'cos if our play didn't come off we'd have a real uphill battle to make the playoffs. But sometimes ya gotta spend money to make money. Pete is playing a blinder as Captain of The Royle Family, but underneath him there's a distinct air of fragility to my way of thinking. Opportunity appears to be knocking. Another option is waiting for the Dark Horses, to see if we can do better than the 2 points we got last Saturday. Dark Horses had 2 players in PJ's 'Bottom 5' list, so again there's a distinct air of vulnerability for us` to capitalise upon. Decisions. Decisions.2 points -
