Credit is due to Te Rapa. Most other tracks with this much rain would have not gone ahead.

on Monday morning, John Allen and the senior management team will have a meeting. After reading this thread they will say that about a dozen customers were not happy with our effort on Saturday. That is a very small minority of our 650,000 or so customers so we are doing a pretty good job - pats on back all round

Today was a complete disgrace. Backed old north to win race 6 at doomben, it got up, paid $6 at all Australian TAB's. Confirmed dividend in NZ (1.5 hours later) was $2.40. Robbery, people punt on the understanding that they will get the commingled price. I'm sure there is some fine print they can fall back on but just a poor experience.

  4. Nothing wrong with having faith in a horse. I think considering the way Kawi jumped and the way he ran on in that slow track, he did good, he was making ground on them in the last 50m .. he's got a lot of heart that horse and he just runs the best he can, always, despite what anyone says about him, and I will never knock him for that, in fact I think he's a beaut horse.

  6. Cheers Rees - just cracked open a Tuatara pilsner and it hits the spot nicely. Nice work today - your win made the difference in the end. Good team effort all round - I think we're on the up and we've played three of the top teams so far - in fact we've beaten the top two teams.

  7. But Kawi had been headlined by Mike Dillon in this morning's NZ Herald. Volpe Veloce is the only horse in the past two years to carry Mike Dillon's headline and win. That was the Railway H'cap/Stakes. The newsprint those spurious headlines are printed on must weigh a tonne.

  10. So lets start another thread to beat up on the All Stars.....let's get green with envy ,let the jealousy ooze on to the keyboard. What the All Stars do is easy ,anyone could do it. But when considering what stable will have the most winners etc don't forget the Aussie results...dunno what they are for the season but I see MP has driven 10 winners for $1.3 mil while NR driven 2 wins for $177k and a couple of Aussie drivers have probably driven a couple as well.

  11. I know he was George Simon's first pick but I think he was mostly hopeful when he said he'd hit the front 300 out. Might be the angle of the TV in my lounge but, though he was very wide he didn't ever look to be within three lengths of the lead IMHO.

  12. Hi Rees, I am a life member, so it would not show up the yearly lists!! I was just thinking, perhaps there should be a pensioner concession in these competitions, of say, +$100 start each week? Cheers. Robert.

Just tried to back both Godolphin winners and cant get on. Nz racing relying on these dick heads to fund racing by tote turnover. No more. Spend it overseas with a professional outfit. What hope nz racing ?

  14. What was exactly wrong with the ride?. The horse is a known rogue starter, Riddell circled at the right time, came to the outside and better part of the track and he just wasn't good enough to make up for losing ground at the start in unsuitable going. 5 starts at Te Rapa for 0 wins, 1 win from 8 starts wet tracks, previous stipes reports are full of slowly away, hmm he run up to expectations I would have thought.

    Betting outage

When it takes over an hour to get winning bets paid out by the TAB after they are "all paying" in Oz, you loose faith in their ability to do anything right. Didn't they recently upgrade the system ?

  21. eljay correct. Jim Smith won four races with him at 3 and 4 then Irvin Behrns trained him at 5 winning five races with him and driving him each time. He started 51 times in NZ before being exported to the States in 1972.

I think you will find Hundred Pipers started it's racing with Jim Smith then transferred to Behrns. In fact Irv drove it on quite a few occasions.

analogy - imagine if there was only 1 petrol company in NZ. If that petrol company continually supplied crap petrol as in contaminated with water, the customers would kick up merry hell and the Government would do something about it. What is the difference with that and the NZ TAB/NZRB ?

Wow Barry, missed the kick, not JR's fault, however, is it not the first rule after such event, you catch the field [they were crawling] so not much energy used, and you wait until your horse is balanced, relaxed and you can save as much ground as possible to compensate for losing ground at the start, so in effect, wait until they fan, and then make your choice wait for a split or ease across heels and come down the outer......we asked our jocks to never ever sit wide, especially if you're slow away,.......IMO.......you don't agree, that's your democratic right Barry, good luck to you.

    Kawi v Start Wondering

From my observations over time, AS's conduct has at times lacked grace - as a winner and as a loser. But we all have different characters and it's up to him how he conducts himself. This is only my opinion and it would be a boring world if we were all the same. Looking at it from the point of view of Trackside/TAB - they will seek him out for an interview every time - and were probably rapt when JKB took the same bullish line when interviewed by Emily Bosson after his win on Dijon Bleu (comments like Kawi was the best horse in the race, he'd ride him like the best horse in the race adn he'd win). People like AS not only polarise people and get them talking - their audacious, super confident interviews doubtless spark signficant betting activity (far more than the understated types who tell us their horse is very good, and is well but will need luck and anything can happen on the day etc etc). And I think we'd be naive to think that Trackside is just an entertainment programme with no other purpose/motivation.

Absolutely - he may not be ultra consistent, but I’m sure there isn’t a cafer who wouldn’t give their right hand to own him (and have bred him)...but he’s a Savabeel...and I guess he’s allowed the odd indiscretion...and yesterday, the elephant in the room was the ride...ummmmm.

  31. Harewood, Your blind support in FTM is disappointing for a reasoned person. I believe with the help of FTM's first comment on the Dunn stable it clearly puts the second comment in its rightful context of being condescending and demeaning towards the Dunn stable. And how can a person actually be in a position to write the words the 'NZ TAB are grateful' and 'for providing product to such (low class) meetings'? I would hardly think the TAB, as an entity, are grateful for anything. An amazingly condescending comment and bewildering one at that when one actually reads it closely. We will wait to see if FTM wants to clarify what he meant but his track record of disdain for anything other than the All Stars means it is derogatory.

No they will give $5 ,as they often do ,to people who haven't tried to bet for a few weeks so they will meet one of their top KPI's........That they will increase the number of ACTIVE accounts. Those receiving this 'hand out" have a limited time to invest this gift ,hence the numbers look good and achieve the target ! But its a sham !

  35. Who has mentioned this FU. If you are referring to FToo Much I read in his comment that he was in fact saying that Dunns business acumen is such that he realizes where to place his horses for the best results which this season he is getting. In other words A Very Smart Man. Correct me is you and several others have read this another way somehow

  36. Surely you're not suggesting Mr Dunn does this out of the goodness of his heart? He does it because, with the class of horses he has, it's the best (indeed only) way to make a buck. Don't think for a moment he wouldn't emulate the All Stars, if he had the horse power.

  37. Well done, Geoff. You can take the boy out of the Mighty Blues but you can't take the Mighty Blues out of the boy, eh ! You're obviously a "big match" player, no "coasting" today when you found yourself up against one of the most successful tipsters in PJ Comp history - Casper. Great response. I'm gonna ask you for some tips this week 'cos the Double AAs are up against John's outfit so we're gonna need all our wits about us.

Now the outfit run by John Allen is showing its true colours. This is a total shambles. It cold be easily explained but I imagine that nobody is allowed to talk until it has been passed by their public relations consultants, all of whom work Monday to Friday. I went to the TAB website news to see what was going on, but there was absolutely s.f.a. there about it all. Their response will be a cacophony of managerial double talk excrement of a bovine male. And trainers want me to take a share in a horse that will be running under the auspices of this fouled up organisation. Get a grip! Now, I have been using computers since 1970, and I know how melodramatic they can be. So you get out there and say; "we have a foul up" You keep your customers onside, but our NZRB adore treating their customers like used toilet tissue. Flush us away.

    Trump written off

If you have ever involved yourself with politics, whether it be with Family Trusts or Corporations a business or running a Country.. you would understand that making people accountable is all important!! Making everything transparent is what is needed to identify if there is any form of corruption or misuse of Money.... What 100 1 is pointing out is a clear case of how the previous President.. has tried to manipulate the election of office process in order to carry out further corruption and further misuse of money. This is why the Trump Presidency is so important for the American People.. becos he(Trump) is in essence shining a big light to expose and make everything transparent If one is concerned about political correctness and how a President speaks out against perpetrators of corruption.. then you are clearly more concerned about the superficial aspect of politics Politics in its purest form should be deep rooted in doing what is right for the body.. whether it be a family trust, a corporation or a country!!
