  1. Here we go with my feeble efforts - I preface these bets with the thought that I'm worried they have put the groundhog through the track as they have obvious concerns that rain may create a slippery surface - the ground hog will make it a little shifty I would think which could undermine a few but I guess you have to take the risk horses will handle it (I'm talkin bout you Aim Smart and Sacred Rebel!!) However to the matter at hand!!! Race 1 $28% treble - 4/Fld/8,9 Race 1 $8 Quinella - 4/2,5,6,7 Race 7 $60% Quaddie - 5,6,7,10,19/12/2,3,5,6,7,10/5,7,8,9,13,14 RAce 7 $30% Quaddie - 5,6,7,10,19/1,3,6,7,12/2,3,5,6,7,10/13 $40 Multi - Any 5, All 6 Option 1401 - 4 Clarify Option 1403 - 8 Yearn Option 1405 - 4 Aim Smart Option 1407 - 10 Dark Princess Option 1409 - 10 Francaletta Option 1410 - 13 Flamingo Thanks Jason (please don't combine Quaddies)- good luck Nek, relying on you my man

The winner of the 3rd leg paid $1.20, I reckon it might be the sub, but the sub is not known at the time Will Pays appear. There is a scratching, albeit Vacant Box. This would not have been scratched until around midday creating the opportunity for an early bird to take a treble and guarantee themselves the Favourite in the 3rd leg. In Sweden you can do this in every race - you can choose to pick the Fav, whatever it turns out to be. Being slow to scratch Vacant Box does the same thing.

  5. 3 long serving committee members resigned months ago over the way that Champion and Murphy were treated and word is a few more might after the races on the 21st of October. The committee is fragmented at the moment and has been for a while,I have heard talk that Lawyers are now being involved so I will be careful in what I say but there does appear to be a couple of committee members that have what I would call a personal vendetta against Champion and Murphy, but others may not call it a vendetta. It just depends on what you interpret as a vendetta. It is such a shame as Ashburton used to be such a strong training centre. We had Jim Lalor,Peter and Dawn Williams Jim Melton and many other top trainers. Not to mention the top jockeys that plied there trade from Ashburton.

  6. Great news - despite starting this thread as I was worried a cock up had occurred for the middle day - I like HB Racing and wish them all the best for tomorrow. Actually I'm really missing not being up there for the Punter of the Year comp

  7. I came onto Racecafe and got this overwhelming sense of Deja vu. Just can't work out why. I will have a think about it after I pick up the pieces of the record I just dropped and broke on the floor.

  8. Surely if it's that obvious that one horse (in this case Agincourt) is in your opinion "under the odds", then there must be remarkable value elsewhere in the market - if you're smart enough to spot it. Clearly Flagship uberalles is better at spotting opportunity that some others! Less whinging and more research would appear to be the answer!

I was all over Mongolian thingy until I saw Clarify scratches from the big race ive brought down my father and son and I’ve put up stake money. So we’re picking a horse each and going each way, which is so inefficient on so many levels, but we’re here to enjoy the day. My son was on Brad Thorn and Dad was on High Quality. I reckon Moira Murdoch wins the next.

    R.I.P. Fekitoa.

Dyna Alk, R.I.P. Once again, another omission from the Stipes report. Broken leg, no standown. Double speak for dog euthanized at track. You would think they would show respect for the poor dog, and at least acknowledge its passing. But the facts are, dogs that are put down at the track, are less important in the eyes of the Stipes than breaches of the dress code that get plenty of mention. Dead dogs do not rate. Sad.

  23. My understanding is of such matters of is that the NZTR have to be informed of such matters by the Club so that proper procedures have taken place.,Not given the bums rush from the NZTR chief executive Bernard Saundry and RIU general manager Mike Godber both who have said thye issue was of a private and commercial nature between the club and the training partnership. They need to be reminded of the Stratford debacle of a few years back and the consequences of that Club and some trainers.

  29. If you were a horse at the back of the field, could you have been guaranteed to have had sufficient room to make a run? If not, racecafers who had punted the horses at the rear of the field would have been mightily annoyed and taken the tune of 'why wasn't the run abandoned'? But, in this case, that is good isn't it? Can harness racing afford a catastrophe of horses running into a prone horse on the track? Would you take that risk in this day and age if you were in charge? One could argue they should have called it off earlier and had the chance to rerun the race.

  38. 3 from 16 now! Easy Beast does look promising being city performed last season and he put away a very poor field very well, More my point is it is extremely early days , Power has left multiple stakes horses from his first crop, so has Highly Recommended And Burgundy. Reliable Man has left a G1 performed filly and at least 3 Australian winners All went to stud the same time as Super Easy, when they have finished their 3/4 year old seasons you gain a better guide

So how do you feel Mr Rendle?

Little furry animals are I presume rabbits. Having picturees of dead rabbitts proves nothing. I have fed dogs dead rabbits, not to excite them althought they did look happy about it but to feeed them what they would get in the wild. Animal preacher my arse, you are creating an illusion to suit your own agenda. Grow up

So how do you feel Mr Rendle?

Comments from a case on Gdata that apply here Once upon a time, an old man spread rumors that his neighbor was a thief. As a result, the young man was arrested. Days later he was proven innocent. After being released, he sued the old man for wrongly accusing him. In court, the old man told the judge, “They were just comments, they didn’t harm anyone.” The judges, before passing sentence on the case, told the old man, “write all the things you said about him on a piece of paper.” “Cut it up into little pieces and on the way home, throw the pieces of paper out of your car window. Tomorrow, come back to hear the sentence.” The next day, the judge told the old man, “Before receiving the sentence, I want you to go out and gather up all the pieces of paper that you threw out of your car window yesterday.” The old man said, “I can’t do that! The wind spread them all over the place and won’t know where to find them.” Then the judge replied, “The same way, simple words and comments may destroy the honor of a person to such an extent that a person will not be able to fix it. If you can’t speak well of someone, don’t say anything at all. Let’s all be masters of our mouths, so that we won’t be slaves of our words.” “Gossips are worse than thieves because they steal another person’s dignity, honor, reputation and credibility which are impossible to restore. So remember this: when your feet slip, you can always recover your balance but when your tongue slips, you can never recover your words!”
