He got a talking to. That will make sure he makes no mistakes in future . People bet money on these races . Doesn't matter if it didn't affect the start or the 8 dog. Shouldn't have been there .! Lost all respect for them .

After seeing the walkie talkie leaning on red rascals box I phoned Robert to report it straight away, hubby and daughter went up stairs and the stipe had already made his call. The daughter had growled the dog, to settle down in the boxes because she was unsettled. Now she knows why! We didn't call for a no race we just asked for her to be deemed a non starter which was declined! Didn't surprise us!

Seriously, if nothing gets done about it, my fear for the end of NZGR has come true. Come on people, you're called the Racing Integrity Unit.

  4. Well lets be perfectly honest here...if they let the wrong dogs run in the wrong races and dont declare that a non race then there was absolutely no chance of this being a non race today!! But hey the wrong dogs (running in wrong grades) didnt cause any interference so it was all good....hahaha what a joke. Once again I will say its high time the nzgra advertise and seek to employ there OWN stipes...cut away from the riu.

  5. I think its obvious that half of the RIU have no idea what the are doing re any of the codes, not just greyhounds. I feel racing stewards need to be made accountable when they cant read the rules of racing properly and enforce them. Incidents like this turn away the avg. punter

  7. Berry isn't that far off the mark,we all have our moments critiquing rides and it's only an opinion,on face value it looked an ordinary ride (opinion) on a horse many expected better from, blame what you will, ride, track, draw, distance, not right on the day, early contact could be any or a combination of these,we know how good Danielle is and Berris opinion doesn't detract from that,we all make mistakes. Can't see how it's necessary to start name calling though

  10. Waikato Times 'Chiefs Spring Surprise' The Waikato Chiefs have beaten their more fancied opponents the Taranaki Ferdies in a gripping final that swung several ways over the concluding stages. The Ferdies have earned the right to be known as the most consistent team in the Super comps, they have held the nucleus of their side together PJ, Heather, Maurice and Bryan for what seems an eternity and with the addition of Stags superstar Nekky they have formed a formidable outfit. Winning the Minor Premiership seems second nature to the Formidable Ferdies, however it's the biggest stage which seems to be the Achilles heel for the Ferdies, falling at the last hurdle. When glancing over the team line ups at the start of each comp and picking the final 5 semi final teams the Ferdies always figure highly, look forward to catching up with the ferdies again in the Summer months where maybe they can seek revenge on the Waikato Wonders Thanks to my team-mates Jack- A Waikato stalwart the heart and soul behind the Waikato team a team-mate who can always be relied on in the big occasions and it was fitting Jack finished finals day on top, a consistently good scorer Jack is one of the unsung hero's of the Waikato side Casper he calls himself the Ghost with the most and the most is what he ended up with heading the Magnificent 7 leader-board Casper needed to produce against the gallant Pegs Pride on Grand Final Day and produce he did. Sylvia- Sylvia ended up the Chiefs Hero the Naki Brigade were in full voice heading into the last and they needed to be silenced, and a wonderful rendition of Silent Night ended the Ferdies charge as the well backed Silent Sedition saluted to all in the Waikato Catalano his consistent performances held the Chiefs in good stead over the earlier rounds and deep into the finals was somewhat unlucky yesterday as some of his super subs saluted Captain- his big call was on playing the Joker and this enabled the Chiefs to chase Group 1 glory thanks everyone for a most enjoyable Spring Comp see you all in the Summer And that's all they wrote folks!!!!!!!

  11. Thanks for a great comp PJ, & congratulations to my team-mates in the Chiefs for bringing it home! Well done Ferdies on a hard fought final, I'm sure we'll meet again in the next final PJ, as for my own contribution on the day, looks like the 'sleeping giant' hit the snooze button - you were too good for me once again

  12. A huge thank you to Greg, Mick, Craig, Matt and Mark McNamara for their information, interviews and their humour to lighten the serious side of punting. Once again great calls from Mark Mac. We are so lucky to have this team during the biggest week in NZ harness racing. Thank you one and all, and thank you to Trackside for the great coverage time given.

So I see Quite A Moment (who placed 2nd in the dominion handicap by the way) has been downgraded. I thought the downgrade system was generally meant to be beneficial towards horses that have become less competitive in their current grade. A fairer system would be to downgrade horses that haven't been PLACED in 7-8 starts rather than the current one which says you can actually be very competitive but still get downgraded.

  15. About 1984,Alan Jones, told me, on Xmas eve, the night before Jolly Jake won the Derby that ex hurdle jockeys make great trainers. And How right Alan Jones is. Ralph Manning, ( was that Ralph"s 3rd NZ Cup with Pump up The Volume ? He got a filly with wobbly front legs and her name was Sea Change.Did she win 7 Group ones ? Did Ralph really hire a silver suit for the day when Pump up The Volume won ?? Chris Wood conditions and prepares his horses. No one can train slow ones to go faster and the moment Chris gets one that go 34 or better last 600m he's placing them. Brett McDonald wonderful rider. Ousted. He Followed Jonesy's training schedule. But his small brain fucked up. Craig Thornton: Ken Browne's protegy. Thrilling rider in America's hard hurdle events. Strike rate to be envied in NZ There are many more, .......add

What sort of a ride was that

If you want to see a piss poor ride look at Shellalegh. Jeez that mare really deserves a big one but has been poorly served in Aussie by both draws and jockeys.

  18. He was indeed Gubes, mind you only three in the race had been tried at the distance previously. Nymph Monte (Grosvenor) is a half brother to Just A Dancer (Star Way) who won both the Sydney Cup and Brisbane Cup over the 3200m. I wouldn't write off his ability to win at 3200m (is he going onto the Wellington Cup?) Danielle spent the first half of the race trying to settle him from over racing plus the state of the track didn't do him any favours. Berri, if you think Danielle didn't ride the horse out, then you are dreaming. When Gentil Tonton who had tracked Nymph Monte up ranged up she used the stick (note she is left handed rider). Go and look at the head on film and you will see that she gave Nymph Monte every chance to finish fourth.

How do you find that surprising given that I could name 2 trainers alone in the north that would have nearly 100 years experience between them!!! Anyone would be shit scared to challenge these guys judgement and integrity....hence why these stipes need to be the best of the best that we can all trust and 100% rely on their decisions and judgements to be accurate, unbiase and not swayed by their fears of being challenged by certain trainers and made to look incompetent....given that goodluck finding anyone that fits the bill!! Hahaha

And for completeness, that bloke Noonu needs to read a few lullabies. I didn't call anyone a twat. You obviously can't understand the difference between me saying "as for that twat comment that Cider Dick gave" and calling someone a twat. Now I'm not 100 percent sure what a dick whacker is Noonu....,,maybe you have the experience to enlighten us....,,

Don't forget, the Auckland (North Island) Branch of the owners association's AGM is scheduled for next Sunday afternoon and this will be a handy occasion for all to expound their thoughts on many of the issues presently to the forefront.. The new ratings system, whether it is more or less preferable to the old system which still in use in the South. New whipping rules, stagnation, even reduction in some instances in stake monies paid especially compared with the spiralling costs in training, vets, transport driving and training fees and percentages being deducted before owners ever see them etc. etc. etc. Races advertised being changed to suit the clubs getting larger fields but penalising many runners by them having to either run "out of grade" or not get a race at all - e.g. last weeks feature race at Auckland which included horses from Rating band 71 up to 106. This system was supposedly to have fields of horses of similar abilities - yeah, right. And of course there are many other topics which any attendee can raise and are encouraged to raise. It's the old story, no good sitting back moaning but not doing anything to highlight the concerns. The meeting is at Alex Park at 2 pm.

  23. Because they make the world laugh !! Bronson and Shelsea Schilling FFS !! How could Moroney or Mick Gerwin thay Thyelthee's name properly . The mother in law is named Bonnie Mobbs FFS, is this a really bad movie script ? And the scribbles all over his face, don't they sell colouring in books in Australia ? Anyway they're gone now. They'll be sadly missed by the bloke at the ink shop. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=11747150

  26. And without the smaller rural racing clubs we won't get kids or others learning to become jockeys or so keenly involved in the Racing industry. It's to be remembered the kids in these rural areas are more likely to have access to ponies and horse to learn to ride on and about animal welfare and what lies ahead. They need to return this and other outlying rural racing clubs back into two race days a year. Or did they used to have three or four not that many years ago before the "corporates" took over the industry? Now, how many rural racing clubs do they have in Australia where we are blessed to have there races on New Zealand Trackside TV and Radio to bet on? Food for thought. Do we support New Zealand racing or Australian Racing in New Zealand?

  28. And I'd be mildly surprised if Dargaville was even given a date next season. Gradually screwing the small out-of-the-way clubs in favour of centralisation. No horses trained there now so.............. It's unfortunately just a glorified sheep block.

The NZ system was designed by idiots. The system used everywhere in the world is money earned, NOT wins. This fixation on wins is just plainly idiotic allowing these anomalies. But then again, we have sleepwalked into the crisis we are now facing, everywhere from breeding to racing, by doing things that worked fifty years ago, but do not work now.

    Swabs

No i'm not. I am not interested in doubling the costs of swabs. I am not interested in taking money out of stake money to be wasted on swabs. I am interested in targeted swabs, that are peer reviewed overseas, at real labs.

  37. Not just the track, everything about the place is bad. Old-timers like Jim Tomkinson and Colin Austin would turn in their graves if they saw the place today! I decided NOT to go back there when I went there one day and there was more people in white coats than there was at the farking races. The Sunday market Rotary runs there is worth going to though!

    Commentator WTF!

I think some of you people are always looking for something negative to post against our commentators. So what, Jason got colours mixed in a race, when was the last time he called a gallops meeting in the CD? You guys would soon moan if there was no commentator at all! With Tom departing to greener pastures, Jason will soon get to know tracks, colours, etc. in the CD. You wouldn't meet a keener young Racing enthusiast than Jason.
