Well that decision to me is the most ridiculous thing I've heard.A false start is a false start isn't it.5 points
-
Completely unbelievable, starting from the fact that six gates failed to open. Rule 631 (5) The Starter’s decision as to whether or not a proper start has been effected and to any other matter in connection with the start shall be final and shall not be subject to appeal, including where the Starter has by his actions declared a Race to be a false start.4 points

Teacher to kids write down what your Daddy does for a living kids all scribble and giggle, and one by one explain that Daddy builds houses, drives a truck, works in a bank.....flies aero planes, trains horses ( poor bastard ), owns a dairy......except for little Rupert who has he's head buried in his hands a tears running down his spotty little face. teacher puts her arm around little Rupert and says Rupee, tell us about your Dad's job Rupert sobbing says my Dad works as a male stripper at a gay club in Soho, and sometime he doesn't come home, Mum stays up all night waiting for him, and other men do awful things to him, he sells himself to sailors and Labour Party politicians for money.......by this time the oooohs and ahhhhs from the other kids are too much so teacher ushers them outside, returns to little Rupert and asks, Rupee, is that all true, it's terrible.... No Miss, he plays for the the English rugby team but I'm too embarrassed to say so.2 points

Unbelievable!! A race where six horses are left in the barrier and with the starter having signaled a false start is declared valid. This is ludicrous. Did I hear correctly that the six that were left in the barriers will now race after the last??? If so, is it a tote or non tote race? Do the rules allow this if it is a tote race?2 points

Eating humble pie
puha reacted to Hawke's Bay Lad for a topic
Early days yet I know but surely all those critics of Butch Castles getting the top job at HB Racing must be worrying what humble pie tastes like. Interesting to see the recent three days in the Bay on course turnover was only $27k behind last year, even with the abandonment of the middle day. Also interesting that the 3 days were way up on the 2 years previous to last year, again even with the abandoned day in 2015. We may be a long way from the old Kelt Carnival turnovers but at least it’s heading back in the right direction following some less than positive signs in recent years. Didn’t go to any of the days myself but I’ve heard the atmosphere on course was fantastic. Well done Butch, if you are pie eater as they say mate you may soon have some people joining you!1 point -

Firstly my sincere apologies to PJ and Turbo team mates for my no shows in the last 2 weeks. I was on the go in Singapore and Japan for the consecutive F1's and got caught by the time difference and need to be in certain places at certain times. I had intended to give a heads up that it might be difficult to post and if I hadn't fronted anhour before start time to have some standby picks on hand. In the leadup rush to leaving I overlooked this and once again my apologies. I haven't read back to see if I have been 'subbed' but will post some picks in case I have been retained despite my poor form (performance wise as well ) 1. Hawera R2 - 8,14 (2) 2. Hawera R3 - 1,3 (11) 3. Matamata R7 - 8,14 (5) 4. Hawera R8 - 1,2 (1) BB 5. Hawera R9 - 5,10 (9) 6. Caulfield R6 - 2,8 (1) 7. Randwick R6 - 4,5 (1) 8. Caulfield R7 - 1,2 (15) 9. This TAB lot are a joke. Betting on races 1 and 2 only tonight. Phoned the helpline and was advised that it was due to Trackside 1 closing at 1.00am. Next question, is this just for tonight? didn't know the answer to this. Another example of the customer being treated with contempt. No wonder people have accounts overseas.1 point

Can anyone fill me in how Rebecca Black who I like backing manages to get Howzat caught 3 wide the trip 80% of the time. Good horse btw.1 point -
When I first viewed the race I also thought how the hell did none of the riders see the person waving the red flag. But on watching the replay I noticed that the flag person was actually on the outside of the track, which could well have made them less likely to be seen by riders. I have to say I've never paid any attention to where the flag person stands, but guess I just presumed they would be inside the running rail as surely they would be more visible there. Is is normal for them to be standing on the outside of the track or is that just another stuff up?1 point

How is it even legal for the race to be declared a false start for it to be then declared valid? It's the most ridiculous (almost) thing I have ever witnessed in NZ racing. Who is it that made the decision to declare it valid? And what sort of precedence does it set. Will there be legal challenges by the connections of the winner next time if a race is declared void after a false start when the rider of that horse didn't see the flag and continued racing?1 point -
