I went to the zoo the other day. There was only one dog in it. It was a shitzu I'm on a whiskey diet. I've lost three days already. My mother-in-law fell down a wishing well, I was amazed, I never knew they worked. I went to the doctors the other day and I said, 'Have you got anything for wind?' So he gave me a kite. I saw this bloke chatting up a cheetah; I thought, ''He's trying to pull a fast one''.4 points -

Riding the favourite at Riccarton, a jockey was well ahead of the field. Suddenly he was hit on the head by a turkey and a string of sausages. He managed to keep control of his mount and pulled back into the lead, only to be struck by box of Christmas crackers and a dozen mince pies as he went over the last fence. With great skill he managed to steer the horse to the front of the field once more when, on the run, he was struck on the head by a bottle of sherry and a Christmas pudding. Thus distracted, he succeeded in coming only second. He immediately went to the stewards to complain that he had been seriously hampered.4 points -

Moody Speaks Out
elbow and 2 others reacted to Michael Roustoby for a topic
I have nothing against Peter Moody I am just pointing out to my fellow race cafers why these products may be consider "illegal" or "raceday treatments" like most I was surprised by the Poultice scratching but maybe the stewards want to eliminate any chance of someone claiming a "contamination". There are 2 sides to every story. Is it the stewards picking on Peter or is it a rule to stop any potential positive swabs? That's up to the individual to make up their own mind Where would you stand if a trainer claimed a horse licked the poultice off and it caused a positive? I am not saying I agree or disagree with it. I feel for the owners. I can see both sides to the story. All I said is "best not to take the chance" Please refrain from you sarcastic comments they aren't appreciated. I am always happy to read other peoples view and learn.Thats what life is all about. I am not trying to convict anyone in a court of law I'm just offering an opinion on an internet forum. I don't expect everyone to agree, care or like me but please respect me.3 points -

This TAB lot are a joke. Betting on races 1 and 2 only tonight. Phoned the helpline and was advised that it was due to Trackside 1 closing at 1.00am. Next question, is this just for tonight? didn't know the answer to this. Another example of the customer being treated with contempt. No wonder people have accounts overseas.2 points

Moody Speaks Out
THE TORCH and one other reacted to Michael Roustoby for a topic
I think you may well be a friend of Peters? I am not trying to put arrows in his back. I am entitled to an opinion and you are entitled to yours and entitled to tell me I'm wrong. Arrogance, sarcasm and trying to paint me out to be a moron with no idea isn't the right way to go about it though.Comes across as bullying and egotistical. I'm an open minded person and if you think I'm wrong you only have to say Michael I think your information isn't correct think about this:......... I was more than happy to read your cobalt piece. End of the day I don't think the poultice was anything untoward at all,a mistake from a staff member as Peter claimed. I believe him 110% I only offered a possible reason why the stewards may consider it a raceday treatment. I never said Peter should be punished in anyway for this. People questioned why it is considered a treatment I offer a possible reason.Same with the Vicks. I'm never said Jenkins was using it for anything untoward but gave a reason why it may be illegal. The Cobalt case is up to the judge and lawyers etc now. Do I think he used Cobalt? NO. Have I pointed out Terry Baileys theory as to why he went over the threshold? YES (Terry Baileys theory could well be wrong the enquiry will determine that) A "stupid opinion" that lead to charges being laid? I don't deserve to cop crap for that. We are all entitled to a say in the matter without having to worry about being shot down or spoken down too. If he is a mate good on you for sticking up for him but you can do that without trying to belittle me. Don't paint me out to be a anti Peter Moody crusader because I am not.2 points -
One thing I did notice today was in Race 10 at Wanganui some imbecile left a rake leaning against the front of the boxes which went flying in the air when the lids opened and appeared to hit the dog in box box 8, this after numerous track inspections to start the day, what a club.........2 points

so Mr L30 are you honestly saying you have never heard stories of trainers applying Vicks to a horse in training and using a Jigger? I find that rather hard to believe. I have heard from more than one reliable source of this little 'trick'. The trainer in question had 2 horses scratched on the morning of the races for race day treatment both for Vicks, maybe since your such an expert you can explain why one would break the rules of racing with this 'medication'?2 points

Report from Working Group on Offshore Racing and Sports Betting
the shue25 and one other reacted to tonkatime for a topic
Here's something for the working group, Had an issue with Crownbet Account, live chat was down so I emailed them, they responded with in an hour and solved the issue. Had an issue with the TAB website on my I phone, email them and got an initial response 24 hours later which didn't solve the problem but asked a couple of irrelevant questions to which I replied instantly. 3 days later I am still waiting for a reply on when the issue may be fixed or what is causing the issue. End result I am using an off shore account as my tab one isn't functioning properly. If your service is sloppy you can't blame anyone but yourself for customers leaving.2 points -
That's why the leading stud farms of NZ should be falling over themselves, to secure Preferment now. In my opinion he's the best colt by Zabeel to have raced since Savabeel and possibly the third best ever. Reset was possibly better, and he's doing a great job too. If only he was in NZ! Going back to Preferment, the Turnbull Stakes win of 2000 metres is his defining moment so far, and who knows what the future holds. Windsor Park, he would be perfect for you!2 points

INGREDIENTS:Montmorillonite Clay, Oil of Peppermint, Oil of Eucalyptus, Magnesium Sulphate, Sodium Bicarbonate,Potassium Aluminium Sulphate, Glycerine I've listed the ingredients of the poultice Moods used so that MR can validate his claims. Clearly there's Sodium Bicarbonate there but the horse would need to eat 28.3kg of its own poultice to get close to the threshold and breach the rules. The product has a declaration on it stating that it's totally compliant if used correctly and doesn't contain PED's. The only issue here is thus that the product was applied race day. We all accept that's a breach of the rules but is it sensible to preclude wet wraps, cold wraps, ice wraps or heat drawing poultices when they don't contain PED's but they do enhance horse welfare? The cobalt issue is similar in Moods case. If there was evidence of cobalt salt being given IV I wouldn't be defending him, but there's not, and to the contrary the indications are ( based on the released evidence ) that a member of Moody's staff has given a horse an IM multi vitamin injection early on the morning of raceday. Once again that's a breach, but only of presenting a horse to race with a prohibited substance in its system, or of not supervising your staff adequately. Training is a tough game, Moody is a friend on NZ, sometimes the rules are impractical or just wrong. MR seems to want to fuel the fire, and there are many conspirators out in the racing community who want to hang, draw & quarter Moody, and others, because it suits them to attribute any success others enjoy to cheating or an uneven playing field. Others amongst us have a more balanced view, the presumption of innocence is a right after all, and even if there's a transgression it has to be seen in context and that context includes scientific substantiation.1 point

Spring Trans-Tasman Super Comp Round 7 - Sat Oct 10entries here
ziggy09 reacted to Right first time for a topic
Am experiencing better fortune in recent weeks by posting early, and this is no time to change a winning formula, not when up against proven highly successful campaigner John of the Hurricanes. I'll need to have my 'A' game here to match motors with my rival, and fortunately for the Mighty Blues that's what I'll be bringing. The Mighty Blues are travelling very comfortably just off the lead and with the Joker still to play, Gruff on fire with $900+ last Saturday and coming 2nd of the 'Magnificent Seven', Steve poised ready to pounce, Captainof40 piling on the points week by week, Moosey always able to be relied upon for a big win - no wonder the nerves are frayed down in Hurricanes country this week. Will they be up to the challenge ? Well we know they'll give it a good shot...but I'm really liking our chances. Go the Mighty Blues ! These are mine for this Saturday :- R1 = 9-10 (4) R2 = 2-3 (10) R3 = 9-11 (10) R4 = 2-14 (1) BB NZ R5 = 5-10 (7) R6 = 4-5 (2) R7 = 2-8 (4) R8 = 2-7 (1) R9 = 2-4 (8) BB AUS R10 = 9-14 (3) Good luck, John. Looking forward to a sterling contest. Thanks, PJ.1 point -

Michael you were badly exposed when you offered all you didn't know about cobalt, and here you go again, putting arrows in Moody's back when you're ignorant of the facts. You ask for respect, well earn it, and you certainly won't earn it by offering stupid and wrong opinions on matters you clearly don't understand. I'm only doing the right thing by a great trainer who's been badly treated, you're behaving like a vulture picking at his carcass.1 point

Michael, for someone who's held a trainers license you have a staggeringly uninformed understanding of simple topical medications. Firstly you substantiate your claims with "I read somewhere....", really? you read it so it's true huh, dear oh dear !!!! Let me guess, you read Harry Potter or the Beano...or something Dillo wrote, and you believed it huh?? Secondly a topical application would normally need a fat soluble carrying agent like DMSO to cross through the skin, and unless you know something we don't I'd suggest there's zero chance of that membrane being crossed ( except of course if the horse licked its own poultice then of course the substance could be readily absorbed through the gut ). I think it might be time you did some study Michael if you want to appoint yourself as Cafe medicines or OTC products expert, not to mention your role as judge and jury, because unless you up your game and your knowledge you're going to be seen as just anti Peter Moody, for reasons only you understand.1 point

Don't be Naïve Leggy. Vicks is banned for a reason. There have been stories in the past of trainers putting vicks on at trackwork, giving the horse a hiding or a jig up on the straight while galloping. Then applying it raceday and hoping the horse remembers the experience. I read somewhere they believe their is a known ingredient in the swell down that can test positive in large amounts (didn't say which ingredient). What happens when someone has a positive and blames "Contaminated Poultice"? Best not take the chance.1 point -
If you think that's too far Scoobs, what about this charge against Brian Jenkins from a couple of months ago? Charge One: AR 178E(1) On 25 June 2015, Crown Halo was entered to run in Race 4, the Polytrack Maiden Plate over 1580 metres at Racing.com Park Synthetic track. In contravention of AR 178E(1), on 25 June 2015, Mr Jenkins administered or caused to be administered a medication, namely Vicks VapoRub to Crown Halo which was engaged to run in the above race.1 point

Dogzone claims that a certain C.D. steward (Mr. Whiterod) will be interviewed on the show next week & Peter has asked for questions from the viewers to be emailed in to him. As I recall his email address is peter.earley@nzracingboard.co.nz If that's incorrect please feel free to correct me. I'll be having a think about some questions to submit, but I'm pretty sure they'd never even ask the first few that have come to mind.1 point

Well the dodgy buggers are dodging. I made an OIA request for this report from the DIA last week and just received a reply which said in part: I am emailing to advise that I am transferring your request to the Minister for Racing under section 14 of the Act on the basis that this information is believed by the Department to be more closely connected with the functions of the Minister for Racing. Further correspondence will therefore come to you directly from the office of the Minister for Racing. In this regard, the 20 working day time limit for providing you with a substantive response to this request will begin from the day after the office of the Minister for Racing receives this transfer. Of course the DIA's own terms of reference for the working group say as follows: Communications and media contact All public communications, interactions with the media, and the release of information related to the working group will be handled by the Department in consultation with the Chair and the NZRB. I guess they can't read their own writing, or they think I'm stupid and are treating me as such?1 point

Timaru race 10 - The start a disgrace!!!!!!!!!
richie reacted to Thejanitor for a topic
Lamb is the worst starter Addington has had and he should not be doing the job. He urgently needs retraining or replacing. Starts have become a joke since he was appointed starter and to compound the problem he was later appointed a stipendiary stewart too, which means that he is unaccountable for his numerous mistakes.1 point -

Just another P. Lamb shocker Brodie. Lamb has officiated over countless poor starts but few as bad as today's effort. I agree he should not be a stipendiary steward as he is unaccountable for his actions; I also believe he should be replaced as starter. He is the worst starter I have seen in over 45 years in game.1 point
