  1. Or, you could call it smart driving? Dexter is driving the second fave - he's got the hot pot on his back and needs to give his horse every possible chance to win, or finish in the best place he can. A horse comes around that he knows has the ability to get him to the passing lane, while making the task a little harder for the hot pot. I would hand up too. The day drivers start thinking about driving to ensure the punters money (AKA: making sure a heavily back favourite gets things easy) is the day we are in big trouble.

Very kind of you Dusty, but no more than your good self! For me it's all about the sport,& those involved from the battler to our master trainers, who do the hard yards,& deserve much more credit than they're given.Because without there input we've got no industry! When something special comes along (Dream Collector) & hopefully many more hot on his tail, then I'm urging all to jump on board & talk up this great sport of ours. Thanks for the kind words Dusty.

You are watching a different race he had to knock two dogs out of the way to get to the lead , he was 6th out of the boxes and took the lead into the first bend,,,and the of course swift fantasy was always on the bunny ????...Don't make stupid statements.

    Franklin Meeting

Did anyone go ?- I couldn't make it- what was the result? Did they bow to the pressure of the ATC board. Given they have used bully boy tactics on Kumeu and Thames and told them they cant race at Alex Park unless they take over their assets they might have folded under the pressure. I don't see how refusing clubs permission to race at Alex Park helps anyone. I wonder if HRNZ has any opinion of ATC board tactics- Mind you given the board must be smart coz they wear suits and get paid to be directors it is probably wrong for the rank and file to question them. They must know everything-. The suits have been presiding over harness racing for quite a few years now and as everyone in the games know we are flying except for declining turnover - declining ownership, declining stakes(in real terms) and decline in horse population and declining attendances- other than those minor topics they have done good! timvince

  7. Is this something we would want here...?? Competition for Lotto maybe....? http://www.racingnetwork.com.au/betting-terminals-flagged-for-shopping-centres-/tabid/83/newsid/20404/default.aspx

  8. It's been suggested on here before by myself and others. If Tatts try it and it works you can expect the NZRB might seriously think about it in maybe 5 years, take another 5 years to develop something (while giving numerous excuses about how difficult it is with the outdated Jetbet system) and by the time it is implemented over here it will be outdated and superseded by other betting technology that hasn't even been though about yet....

    Petitions

Yes I am really sorry to hear about Phil too. I wanted to log in under my original pseudonym of Philocon but I realised I could no longer use that name without the permission of the trustees of my estate. However being dead and agnostic and not believing in an afterlife prevents me from finding out who they are. So I re-registered under Philocon2. Will someone please let me know when and where my funeral or memorial service is as I'd like to attend. I also want to put my name down to deliver the main eulogy - I have so many nice things I could say about myself at my own funeral. Apparently there won't be a casket at my funeral as last week I went to see the doctor about my cold and sore throat (maybe that's what killed me). She gave me something to stop that persistent irritating coffin. I intend to bring an old friend to my funeral - Samuel Langhorne Clemens who was born in Missouri in 1835. Rumours of his death were greatly exaggerated too. ( Some of you may not recognise his birth name as he changed it when he was older and started a career as a steamboat pilot and later a newspaperman, But his career took off when he turned his hand to writing stories and novels. He wrote "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" but many of you will probably better remember his later works "Tom Sawyer" and "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." No Hedley "eventuation has" not "proved him wrong on all the criticism he used to refute my postings with..." because I did not say conspiracies did not exist, nor did I rule out some of the dodgy dealings and conspiracies you referred to. They did and do exist but I simply don't subscribe to conspiracy theories to explain everything that happens that I don't agree with. Criticising and recognising conspiracies when you see them is not the same as subscribing to conspiracy theories to explain life (or in my case death) as we know it. Good to see you are still imaginatively using the language though. bblunt - Properispomenon is Greek for words which have a circumflex accent over the final syllable. For example θεοῦ, theoû, - meaning of a god -, or πρᾶξις prâxis - meaning business. Handy to know if you read a lot of Greek texts. As for where he might be ask Mark Twain he might be able to help. The reason why you haven't seen me posting here for quiet a while is, like Aquaman I got tired of a lot of the backbiting etc that went on, short sighted bigotry and the tendency for not letting the facts get in the way of one's prejudices. Believe it or not there is another world outside greyhound racing and I have always and still am enjoying it - there are places and organisations in it where people don't knife you in the back as a hobby, or use prejudice and gossip as a substitute for reason. I enjoy a good fight but a lot of what I saw here fell far short of that. Next time I die could someone let me know directly instead of me having to read it third hand on an internet forum.

    Cambridge today

Your right I am affiliated with the club & no I don't think it's good enough that there are always issues with the boxes. What I don't like is people that come on here when they don't know what happened & complain & then when given the real facts about it the call it an excuse because they don't like to pull their heads out of the sand & know what the REAL FACTS are.

  13. Like I said earlier - keep digging. There is plenty to uncover. KPMG did a very soft P&E review - late I might add. One key conclusion was some reverse engineered hypothetical takeout rate adjusted turnover comparison for five years ago and now that showed....... outstanding performance. Scratch the surface of this "logic" and you find deceit. The most ill informed betting market person knows turnover is highly correlated with takeout rate (gross margin). If you put the rates up turnover goes down. You can't blame fixed odds and GST for a lower takeout rate and then some how apply the rate from five years ago to today's turnover. YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TODAYS TURNOVER AT 2008 TAKEOUT RATES - IT WOULD BE LOWER. Sorry for shouting but people need to notice the link between deceitful presentation of "facts" claiming performance and said patsy contractor also having other financial interests with interested party to find "nothing to see here". Move along..... While on the subject of mis-performance with a late P&E audit - how about that website eh? Last news release was Jan 2014. Isn't this Monique Cairns's area? What has she been doing? Too much twittering? What is the value to racing of her social media strategy and how is that delivering? 1m likes yet? Unbelievable how the Board is snoozing while there is smoke all around. I wonder if the Board knew about all the "commercial" relationships with some customers and how TABCorp was rogering NZ punters?

  15. You told us Kristy was getting paid by the RIU. That's just wrong. Trainers have continually pulled the wool over Neal's head. You'd know the case of Rodgy in January of course when he stated his app Taylor was about to swap with another Pitman app so she would need the 2 Sth Is days included in her suspension which they gave her. The swap never happened and Taylor got away with 2 days she shouldn't have. And of course the classic case of Innes when he managed to get an extra day in the Sth Is so he could ride the Oaks winner. The JCA in granting the RIU's agreement to that day said "we certainly will be hoping to see evidence that Mr. Innes will be riding down there in the very near future or his reputation is on the line" That never happened either. And then to the Parkes quote of Neal's where he stated that Parkes rides extensively throughout the North. That's simply not the case with the criteria used either. Look don't trouble yourself any further over this, Kristy ordered a meeting which has now been held and new penalty guidelines are on the way. Don't know you from a bar of soap but you're definitely sounding like one of those jockey agents whose income is perked by these clayton's suspensions.

  16. crikeydick... I agree with you completely. You are commenting on what actually has happened. In my opinion (and, I believe, yours), what has happened is almost too staggeringly stupid to be believable and anybody who cannot see this has no need of a frontal lobotomy...they've already had one. All the best. Ashoka
